Thats kind of a wild take given that Mobley saved MULTIPLE playoff games this year. He destroyed Det down the stretch.

I love Garland, but he isnt close to the same stratosphere of a playmaker as harden. Look at their passing packages. DG was great at the floater lob and the lay down but solid everywhere else. Harden has upper tier vision with kickouts, lay downs, skip passes, lobs, and interior dump offs. Its frankly insulting to compare them on this.

Harden gets guys the ball in a position to make a move and score. DG got guys in a position to finish only. I dont want to rag on one of my favorite Cavs but the comp is ridiculous

Harden barely finished with a positive assist to turnover ratio. He turned the ball over 4.7 times per game this last playoff run. Garland averaged 2.7 apg across 22 playoff games. Twelve of those Garland turnovers occurred across the three games in the Pacers series when he had no business on the floor. Harden is the more aggressive passer, that doesn't make him the better passer. I honestly believe that Garland sees the floor much better.

As far as Mobley, I'd be curious to know what games you believe Mobley saved this last run.
 
Just a trend that I am starting to see… imho, the nba landscape has changed, you can have a young team that fits together, good athleticism/motor/lenght, two-way players and well coached… then you can win… gone are the days of the veteran top heavy big 3 and super teams….

Not optimistic for next year teams if they stay small/unathletic/old/suspect defense at the guard and wings positions….

On Harden/Garland...im talking about the actual passes they make in the game. Yes Harden has a higher number of turnovers but look at what passes are actually being thrown on the court. Not what's in your spreadsheets. He is either the third or fourth best playmaker in the NBA right now.

Maybe in the regular season but Harden can't hold up to the defensive intensity of playoff basketball.

You will win nothing with a Harden/Mitchell back court. Terrible defensively also.

I like Garland a lot more than Harden as a fan. He’s great to watch and Harden is…an acquired taste.

But James has been amazing for both bigs. Just spectacular work.
 
ETA: we’re about to see a five foot nothing and rebounding non spacing 2 win the title.

Maybe hold the phone a little about what Harden and Mitchell can’t do or how far it can go.

Only have to miss the playoffs for six years or fleece the clippers. (Or fleece the Nets thirteen years ago)

Atlanta and Orlando who haven’t won a playoff series in years are basically what happens when you build for wings / athletes. OKC works bc of Shai and Chet, without those two it’s a different story.

This is the right play for the next few weeks. There is likely going to be a bidding war for Giannis that you can’t speed up and any other path can wait until the draft.

Yeah I don’t get it man. We aren’t talking about hypotheticals; we literally saw Garland play in the playoffs with this exact core. If he was as good as some want to claim, the trade wouldn’t have happened.

But he's going to be a lot cheaper. THat's the trade off.

Meanwhile the Cavs would have been staring down the barrel of a Garland extension in which he's gonna ask for max years and money on it. Harden is gonna get 2 years at 30 million which is most likely gonna get the Cavs under the 2nd Apron.

I'm all for trading Garland (earlier than we did btw.) But adding Harden, the turnover machine, at 36 years old was not the play.
