2027 Draft Prospects Thread

Pretty confident our pick will be in the top 6, plus the extra pick gives us some ammo to move up into the top 3-4 and hopefully select our franchise QB. 2027 is the draft to go get your guy, and it could be a 4-5 deep QB race at the top.

Depending on QB play we may get the #1 pick, we're only favored in about 2 matchups. Maybe Stafford gets hurt and the Rams pick is also top 15, what an awesome break that would be.
 
Seeing as how we will all be college QB scouting this year, the first tier of guys I’m most interested in are guys who are absolute physical specimens, those who have the traits to be a top NFL QB. I currently have:
  • Manning
  • Sellers
  • Moore
  • Lindsey
  • Mestemaker
In some order. The other guys, like Carr, Maiava, etc may end up getting there, but I have a tougher time seeing them as possibly being a top 5 NFL QB.

Not to say the board eventually settles like that, just that those guys are the ones who will be considered top 3 picks if they do break out.
 
Experience tells us that the QB board at the end of the season will look a lot different than it does now. But--unlike this year--I expect 4 QBs to go in the top 10 which just dramatically improves the chances of the Browns getting someone with real potential even if they dont get their #1 guy.
 
Once again planting my flag on LaNorris Sellers. Partially because I am a South Carolina homer, partially because of the tools.

He will need to take a major step forward though.

Reminds me a bit of Josh Allen at Wyoming. Tons of physical tools but output has not been nearly good enough. If he can improve his accuracy, he could be picked just behind Manning and even be the better prospect.

He is the type of player that you really need to understand his willingness to put in the time to learn. Allen got fixed in the NFL. Sellers has the skills teams will want to harness.

He makes me nervous. He'll have more experience than Anthony Richardson but the comparisons will be there. Incredible physical specimen that really hasn't learned to play QB. Not ruling him out but he's gotta have an outstanding year with legit QB skill for me to feel good about him. If he's just a superior athlete that plays QB I'm not interested.

I've heard that a few times today and it confused me, too. I guess thats why they didn't give Malik Willis stupid money (just ridiculous money) this offseason? I also suppose if youre sitting at #1, with this supposed QB class, they'd be foolish to pass on one?

But if Willis plays well, how will they be in contention for #1?

The dolphins are slated to be awful. They signed Willis on a 3 year $67M contract ($45M guaranteed) so effectively they have some flexibility to call him their guy or not their guy, which is great for them. *However* they went ahead and traded his best (remaining) WR weapon in Waddle, and ofc let Hill walk. So this year is likely more of an N/A versus a "bust" year, meaning consensus (and I agree) is that it's going to be very hard for him to play well. This isn't a team that's a weapon or 2 away either, and they just lost McDaniel who is regarded as a technician of a play caller (but not culture setter), and he has turned water into wine for some porous offensive lines before.

Tbh I really think they are tanking for J Smith specifically. If they end up #1 I think they'd only entertain offers from teams that included a high enough FRP to get J Smith.

Purdy. Burrow. Mendoza/Cousins... there are plenty.

Purdy and Burrow have shown some serious movement skills when needed. They aren't Mike Vick or Lamar, but they aren't Peyton or Brady either.

Cousins is a dying breed and Mendoza definitely has functional mobility and is rather athletic.
