2027 Draft Prospects Thread

Best class the Browns can participate in since 2018.

I remember being a huge Baker Mayfield guy back then…

1st round lock:
Dante Moore
Julian Sayin
CJ Carr
Arch Manning

Tier 2:
CJ Bailey
Drew Mestemaker
Jayden Maiava
LaNorris Sellers
Sam Leavitt
Josh Hoover

Tier 3:
Drake Lindsay
Jaden Craig
Darian Mensah

I’m bigger on Maiava, Moore and Sayin than most pundits I see.

I like Maiava as a potential tier 2 and even tier 1 guy. I feel like people are sleeping on Mensah too.

"Huge Baker Mayfield guy" lol

Mensah deserves to be higher.

Been a few weeks since RCF has dipped into the Julian Sayin debates. I'll start us off this time...

Julian Sayin is FAR from a 1st round lock.
Who was the last elite QB with tools as bad as his?

I guess I need a reminder on what Baker’s tool bag consisted of. Was moxie an objectively measurable trait?

Maybe I should rephrase that to elite NFL QB with traits as bad as his. Brees maybe?
Brees is always the popular one, but Brees had a good arm and a once in a lifetime brain. Probably one of the smartest guys in NFL history.

If we arent including size as tools, Rivers and Peyton had pretty weak tools, but were brilliant enough to win. Thats all that really comes to mind.

I’d argue that their size alone gave them way better physical tools than Sayin. Small and slow with a weak arm means he needs to be just about perfect in everything else to have a chance.

Sayin was so green, so young. I thought there were good indicators, reasons for optimism. I don't think his arm, mobility, or decision making are necessarily static traits. We often talk about # of starts as an important indicator to increase the sample size, but there's also another reason: to play more high level football.

He needs more seasoning and this season should provide that. No idea if he's FRP or 4th round QB. Even if he's FRP, at the QB position there's still a 50/50 shot at best that he'll be a decent NFL QB. I am just not ready to give up on him at this point.

Above-average arm and good accuracy. His issue has been decision-making.

Maybe some want to cut Sayin a break because he is young, and see if his arm improves. To me, his long/intermediate throws tend to float, which is death at the NFL level. That has to improve for him to become a prospect at the franchise level.

I wouldn’t have taken Sayin before Day 3 in this past draft. The most concerning element for Julian in my eye is his lack of escapability.

His arm doesn’t seem like the weakness proposed on this board, but I’m not an evaluator. Just never seemed like he had to work too hard to get the ball downfield.

What I like - his release is fast, he shows great touch, and he gives his receivers a chance at the ball.

What I don’t like - He really struggled with Indiana’s zone defense. He needs to be better against complex concepts, because that will become much more difficult at the next level. He also can’t stretch plays with his legs. He will need a solid line to be successful.

He’s not a top 3 prospect, but those claiming he’s already a guaranteed bust at the next level are being disingenuous. I really don’t see how people could simultaneously love Mendoza as a prospect and hate Sayin. Mendoza literally looks like a bit more polished version of Sayin.
