Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There was a Cinci/Phillies trade proposal that had some interesting potentials..

The original deal was the Phillies best prospect catcher, O'Hoppe going to the Reds for Senzel OF and Vellojin C.. This is a deal that has either a soon to be salary dump of Senzel or the Reds fans are of the belief Tyler Stephenson is not going to survive being a catcher.. so, a good one needs to be acquired..

FWIW.. the two back stops are both worthy of consideration even if there is a huge variance in their value.. In the deal proposed.. the Phillies get a CF'er as a collateral benefit to go with a prospect catcher swap. imho, the values for these two guys as a comparison is ridiculous.. they're more even w/ O'Hoppe being valued to highly.. and Vellojin being valued to low.. somewhere in "the middle" or in between is more realisitc..

Now, assuming the values are more to the middle.. if the reds really don't need O'Hoppe.. then the third team, the Guardians, may be able to participate.. The addition of Battenfield and Tena to the Reds in place of O'Hoppe, who comes to the Guardians could make this a better deal for all three teams..

Benjo comes off like a used car salesmen selling a defective product.
3 for 1 deal.. makes sense for a roster clearing move..

Ian Happ.. is having a career year.... buying "high" is what you're suggesting..

Soft pass..

I am not against getting Happ, but not at the BTV price and the Benjo guy wanted Either TMac or Kwan plus Morgan for Happ and ranted about how that is a great deal and Cleveland should take it, blah blah blah... When we countered with truthful opinions, he was like thats not right and Cleveland should take the deal. Thats why I made the one deal since on paper, at least we can deal with it. He isn't wrong about the Cubs and their needs, but he skews trade so badly to only benefit them.

I think we all know Cleveland is going to figure a deal out of LF so we cannot rule out everything, though I wonder how we can get some upgrade at C. I mean I like Maile, but we cannot keep two catchers who cannot hit much...

Nothing personal, but I can't see anyone actually seeking Stephen Kwan in a trade.
And I love the guy.

He is a useful player, but BTV has his value too high. At the same time, I think trading Kwan would hurt our PR with the fans.

Kwan won't be a free agent for a long time. No reason to give him up for 1.5 years of Ian Happ, who you know isn't going to re-sign with us if he continues his surge. Let someone else overpay for the rental.

I want to build a core and Kwan might be part of that core, and we can add to it by trading prospects for guys with more years of control, but I don't see the need for a Happ when we have other needs and I'd still like to see how a lot of these other options can produce over an extended time period.

Kwan’s on pace for roughly a 2.5 WAR year while making the minimum. BTV is basically his projected residual value over six years. If he were playing playing CF it would be an excellent bet that outperforms the projection.

Palacios is the spare part and would get shipped in any Happ deal. I'd hate to see it, but would understand.

Something like Palacios, Tena and Curry plus maybe a lotto ticket
That's a fair deal and a very good return for Happ IMO.

There are a lot of deterrents for a Happ deal. If it were me Kwan would be my CFer, but that isn't going to happen. Valera continues to mash. Jones is hotter than a firecracker. Brennan is the best hitter in the entire organization right now. OGon has performed well, but they'll need to see him make some needed adjustments. I just don't know how he fits, but his 1.5 yrs of control fit nice with Valera's timeline.

I like Happ and I believe he would make this team significantly better in the here and now.

We could live with that Happ deal especially since we have Brennan coming in behind and he is not defensively limited like Palacios is.

The question is are we gonna go for Happ, or we gonna try and get someone with more control like a Hays...

By BTV Happ is a 20 and Hays is a 30... plus Hays would be under team control until 26 instead of Happ being until team control until 24

What would be the price in the difference in real life?

Good question, but I would guess that Hays' control carries significant value. I'll take both! lol

Edited to say that I don't believe the Orioles have any desire to move Hays and that it would take an overpay to get him.

With the fact we likely cannot protect all of our prospects anyways, do you think it would be worth the overpay for a Hays? I mean depends on what they want to as well...

Yeah I'd have to see what they wanted.

Yeah I'd have to see what they wanted.

I do think we acquire two players here soon. One a setup/backup closer and a veteran bat. Though in what capacity, I have no clue. We really won't know until we see it on twitter... lol
