Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Edouardo Rodriguez of the Tigers going on the IL puts a crimp in some teams plans to acquire the him.. coughcardinalscough.. E-Rod has kind of an unusual contract that covers him if he performs or not.. that is.. if he performs, he can opt out and get a really BIG payday.. or, if he doesn't perform, he has a player option whereby he gets paid for three more years in 8 figures..

From CBS Sports on likely trade candidates (sorry no Zunino nor Rosario). AL Central has 10 out of 20 trade candidates with 6 for WhiteSox

3. Shane Bieber, RHP, Guardians

We don't know if the Guardians will consider trading Bieber at the deadline, but we think there's an argument to be made that they should -- and not just because of their poor start to the season, or his looming date with free agency in winter 2024. Not to get too far over our skis, but despite a shiny ERA, he appears to be in decline. His strikeout rate has fallen off a cliff, anchored by a four-seam fastball that has posted the second-worst whiff rate among pitchers with at least 300 thrown. What's more is that he also ranks near the bottom of the league in quality of contact surrendered. Bieber has shown the ability to make adjustments in the past, and we'll acknowledge that he might find a way to course-correct from here. We're not so sure the Guardians can afford to wait to learn the answer if they want to get a real return on him. Potential fits: Orioles, Diamondbacks, Padres

I highly doubt the D'backs would even talk about this, but I would give a significant offer for Corbin Carroll. With Bieber as only the starting point. I think he has All-Star written all over him.

They don't even list the Dodgers which is the team most likely to acquire him. Sometimes I wonder if these guys even watch MLB.

Edited to say that Bieber should be dealt ASAP, but the way this team has sat on its hands I don't see that happening. I just don't know what in the hell they were thinking not trading him before the season started when his value was significantly higher. They knew he wasn't going to sign an extension then and that would have prompted me to deal him and move on.

Yeah, yeah. But we need a bonafide MLB outfielder. I don't think the Dodgers have one for us. Maybe Outman, but even he is a LH hitter. We don't really need infielders. TBH, even if we trade Bieber, I think SP would be OK. Plus, Williams should be here after the All-Star break. Naylor too.

Agree with most of this... An SP or RP.. would be nice.. A real ML level OF'er wouldn't hurt... A complete ML catcher would fulfill the most glaring need..

Outman and Vargas, plus Stone, Galiz and Frasso was my target return in the off season... Then again I had Rosario gone (if I had my choice).

Vargas is that dude. Outman in CF would be an improvement. I would demand a SP prospect like Stone in return. I might settle for Pepiot or Nastrini.

In hindsight, I wish they would have gotten the deal I put up in the offseason... Vargas, Stone, Pepiot, Outman and Galiz lol

That would have been a monster return lol

I have a semi-strange idea...

Cut/trade Rosario... Send Freeman to AAA...

Rocchio to Cleveland, Schneeman to Cleveland...

Reason why...

Rocchio replacing Rosario, everyone can agree on...

Reason why Schneeman instead of Freeman... The spot doesn't play a lot, so why have Freeman getting no ABs... Why not let organizational depth get the spot, and he had played 2B/SS/3B and cameos at 1B and LF. .

Also Cardinals fans on BTV think they can get Bieber with a package one of Edman/Carlson/Donovan plus O'Neill for Bieber...

I like Edman and Donovan, but those guys aren't what Cleveland needs. I'd trade Rosario for O'Neill... but that's about it...

Here's an idea. Cut Zunino and pick up Alfaro. Probably be looked at as a genius move in a month.

I think it's better to stay with Zunino/Gallagher or Naylor/Gallagher...

Gallagher would be a great counterpart for Naylor and I wouldn't be scared to get him under contract for 24 as well...

..seems like the national pundits are more about what the other clubs are willing to lose as opposed to the needs of the clubs involved..

The best news of all of that is - where there's smoke there's fire.
I now think there's more than 50% chance a deal is done at the deadline.
