23 Offseason GM Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

I posted this last night and I am actually liking it more and more...

Cleveland gets
SP Pepiot
3B/Util Triolo

Dodgers get
OF Reynolds

Pirates get
2B/INF Busch
SP Allen (Cle)
SP Stone
OF Outman

I am the only one who likes it, it seems lol

Plus I believe Cleveland needs to make a second trade to make it work correctly... so hmm....

Something like this...

Guardians get
LHP Bratt
MiF Saggese

Texas gets
SP Plesac
2B/LF Palacios

So out would be Allen, Plesac, Palacios

In would be Pepiot, Triolo, Bratt and Saggese...

Pepiot would compete with the other young talent and maybe a veteran or two on a MiLB deal for the last rotation spot...

Why wouldn't the Pirates just cut out the middle man instead of trading Pepiot and Triolo for Allen?

Pepiot is from the Dodgers and Triolo is a pirates prospect...

Yes, but they could just forget about Allen. The Dodgers aren't getting anything from us so they're just including Pepiot to get Reynolds. My point is the Dodgers don't care whether he goes to Pittsburgh or Cleveland. IOW, Pittsburgh must want Allen enough to give up Triolo plus Pepiot (who would be traded by the Dodgers either way).

And, depending on who you ask, some rankings services would like Pepiot over Allen anyways and SC wanted Triolo added. MLB has Pepiot as the 74th prospect last year and Allen isn't even listed this year. So like all trades, beauty is in the eyes of the GMs.

And, SC, to my earlier point, I do not doubt Pitt is looking for pitching, but they are in a similar boat to us in 40 man issues and a bevy of pitching prospects in AAA -- Priester, Ortiz, Oviedo, Burrows, Nicholas, and others and then you add Stone and either Pepiot or Allen. Just saying they may want a better upside prospect off the 40 who can be a high grade later maybe like Campbell or someone else like Francisca.

Look at Triolo's profile and numbers... I think you will like him...

The second one isnt exactly perfect... It was more of Trade Plesac and Palacios for prospects...
I checked Triolo out and I'm not impressed. He looks like he's in great shape, but he doesn't have much quick twitch to his game. Big kid too at 6'3", but he doesn't have much power which explains the .419 SLG in AA as a 24 yr old.

...looks like Tarzan... plays like Jane...

We shall see in a few seasons... He will force himself onto the roster of whichever team he is with in 24...
You mean you think he'll force himself onto the roster of whichever team his is with in 24. You honestly think he'd force his way onto Cleveland's roster? Who is he going to force out, JRam? Kwan? OGon? Naylor? That pretty much covers 3B and any other position he might be able to play. He needs to be on a team like Detroit, KC, Pittsburgh or any other young, unestablished team that doesn't have 3B figured out.

Pittsburgh has 3B taken... And he can play more than 3B... he didn't look bad in CF...

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the team he has the best chance of starting for.. the Golden Bears of the Independent Northern League !!

Clutch Points had an interesting article on the St Louis Cardinals biggest need.. a MOR/FOR SP.. like:

https://clutchpoints.com/cardinals-one-last-minute-move-to-round-out-mlb-roster

Could be an interesting deal that can be made here..

Yes, if they cannot get Glasnow, "Glasnow was among the best pitchers in the majors" maybe they will settle for Plesac .... because we all know Plesac can beat out Flaherty, Matz and Liberatore for the final 2 spots. Herrera for Plesac? Who says no other then them??? They counter with Mercado for Plesac.

They are like Twins and need that headliner to help with the playoffs. For them it's Bieber or McK or bust which ain't happening.

Or the Guardians participation is as a third party facilitator using our prospect currency to acquire what could only be __________ It would make the most sense..

How about an Gabriel Arias for Luis Campusano, one for one deal?..
