@CDAV45

Where is your Rosario to Braves trade on BTV! I am waiting lol

Edit: you are too late!

Braves get
SS Rosario

Cleveland gets
SS Shewmake
LHP Dodd

Shewmake ends up being an utility guy playing all INF positions in 23 then takes Arias' utility spot on the bench while Arias starts! Mwhaha (he is 6'4)

Interesting pickup.

Interesting enough to make me wonder why he lasted so long.

He's had some impressive numbers and a plus slider, but can't stay healthy.

Yeah I don't think we need another SS and who in the hell is Dodd? Even considering those things I'd make the trade.

I dont know where to put this, and I haven't seen it mentioned, so here goes...

Early in the month 538 did an article on how they perceive the new rules to effect each team.

According to their analysis, the Guardians are the team most positively effected.

'The Guardians are basically a team custom made to benefit from MLB's new rules.'

Three interesting stats from last season...

Cleveland pitchers took the least time between pitches.

Cleveland used a shift less than all but one team.

Cleveland runners had the fastest sprint times.

***************

Most, if not all projections for this season do not put much emphasis on the new rules. 538's projections have the Guardians with the ninth best win total in MLB this year, but when adding in their analysis of how the new rules help...or hinder...a team (based upon analyzing last season), Cleveland jumps more than any other team.

The new rules seemingly benefit bad teams, while challenging good teams. Only two teams with top ten win projections look to have positive effects from the new rules...Cleveland and Atlanta.

WOW! This guy obviously has the goods. He pitched in the WBC, so he's healthy now.
He's now 28 years old. So, if he has some success, he could come quick.

The only scouting report I've seen on this kid is five years old.

Throws mid 90s, but the fastball really isn't effective, because it doesn't have movement. Plus slider. Only 5-10.

strictly, a numbers game.. his team had 47 guys that were projected to need roster spots (including Jhon Romero). They had an addition 10 guys on the 60 day IL that would need to be removed from that list.. That put Romero as odd man out.. As he had bounced around in the minors & had only short bursts of success at the MLB level, it was thought he would be overlooked.. and he was.. and until his latest "signing"... he remains the definition of a "journeyman"...

Does he have something special that can be extracted by the Cleveland organization?.. doubtful.. most likely, he'll be a warm/veteran body that can be called on to fill a completely temporary role.. When that role is up, he will be exposed to waivers where his next gig will be.. It's a nomad's existence..

I agree.

But he has been a FA since early November.

With everybody looking at relievers, what took so long?

Interesting fact...

He was once traded straight up for Kintzler.

Never hurts to give it a whirl with a good arm so we'll see what happens. I actually like Ortega a lot better than either of the guys they've recently signed. He might not have made it to us with the Twins claiming him, but I would have traded for him in a NY minute.

This organization is not acting like the 23 season is a priority to this point. I wonder what's going on.

Are they not? Did they not bring in Bell and retain Bieber and Rosario... Those aren't win next year moves

Yes they brought in Bell. Bieber and Rosario were already on the roster and one of them shouldn't be. They haven't done enough IMO.

So they should have dumped Straw and Rosario for moldy PB&J sandwiches and went with straight rookies for CF and 2B/SS? Traded Bieber plus Plesac and expected the return SP (likely Pepiot) and Bibee to take their spots?

Edit: I know you didn't say that, but you have been making moves that say that...
