Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think "Bieber for a bat" is wishful thinking. At least in the terms of a one for one deal outside of someone like Santander. I don't want that to be true, but I regretfully believe that to be true. If you want a real bat then we're talking about dealing any of Kwan, Clase or McKenzie. Everyone else will have to be packaged.

I feel like the return for Bieber will be less than Burnes but greater than Kluber... Kluber we targeted a MLB bat in DeShields and Clase as a prospect in a sense... So for Bieber I could see a stop gap guy like Santander or a bat like Norby but plus a Povich in a sense...

Let's say we start spring training with Norby, Povich, Cabrera for Rocchio and Bieber... We don't lose anything in 24, since Cabrera would be our 4th starter... Povich adds depth and Norby could take RF... Now I know you don't like Povich, I am just using him as a rank of a prospect in a sense.

In my mind... if we move Bieber, i feel like it will for a bat plus a prospect then moving Rocchio for a Cabrera makes a ton of sense... I don't see us moving Rocchio for a pitcher if we don't move Bieber sincerely to be honest... This is just my opinion though...

I still love the idea of Cabrera and De La Cruz for Rocchio. You think the Marlins would even consider it?

Edited to say that I didn't even pay attention to who posted it. I thought you did Gson until I looked. No wonder I love it. LOL

De La Cruz is alright, but even though he hit 19 HRs... He had a negative bWAR and his stats have gone down since he was a rookie and not increased and his defense is considered a negative, though you do want to max your return for Rocchio...

I'd personally go something like Rocchio for Cabrera, LHRP Josh Simpson and C Banfield and plan on having Banfield be Hedges replacement in 24 on the 40 man in a sense...

You "feel like the return for Bieber will be less than Burnes"? There isn't a chance in hell that Bieber will garner anything close to what Burnes did and I want nothing to do with Povich. He would be a depth piece at best and I doubt they could get Norby with Bieber at this time.

De La Cruz is "alright" with the ability to be more and that's what you're going to get in a deal like this. At this time Rocchio is "alright", but nothing special. You're simply not going to get Cabrera, Simpson and Banfield with Rocchio alone. To think that Rocchio could bring back Cabrera in a one for one deal is a reach IMO.

Another interesting name has been DFA'd. Simon Muzziotti from the Phillies.
Could be a good 4th OF candidate.

From BTR:
"Some of that hinges on whether Muzziotti, 25, remains with the team. He went 1-for-7 in a very brief MLB debut in 2023 but had a solid .293/.358/.404 showing in the upper minors. Muzziotti smacked seven homers, swiped 26 bases, walked at an 8.6% rate and struck out in just 15.5% of his plate appearances at the Triple-A level. He has experience in all three outfield spots (though Baseball America suggests he’s best suited for corner work), and Muzziotti also has a minor league option remaining. Another team looking for outfield depth could well place a claim on waivers or look to swing a small trade to bring him aboard. The Phillies will have a week to attempt to trade Muzziotti or pass him through outright waivers."

Muzziotti is a lesser Will Brennan... I actually don't think we would have a chance to claim him anyways and I don't see why we would give up someone... His numbers at AAA aren't as good as Brennan, Kwan etc and he doesn't hit for power like Florial does. Makes no sense to bring him in... I was actually after Jonah Bride who got traded for...

Seems like the qualifications needed are breathing and being a RH hitter so.......
This guy was the end all/do all coming up in the early part of his career.. He was injured in 2021 and has never regained his hitting form. Does he have it in him to get back to his earlier career numbers?.. sadly.. doesn't seem to.. Soft pass..

You forgot the other key … CHEAP!

I'm sure they have a scouting report on him since he would likely have been apart of the trade with Toronto if JRam didn't get extended...

There has been a flurry of DFAs this week... I wonder where all the pieces will land

I don't expect any additions at this point, but with the Reds just extending India I'd try to make a play for Steer. He's a good fit.

We also drafted him, but we didn't sign him... I just don't know who we would have to give up though

I'd try to use McKenzie or Bieber. Clearly those 2 are not of equal value so other pieces would be included. Although I'd give McKenzie for Steer in a 1 for 1 deal.

I really don't believe Cleveland would even think about moving TMac at all...

Extensions are typically what happen as the team comes into the start of Spring Training.. There is a window of about two weeks before the real preparation for the coming season becomes the sole and exclusive focus..

That said.. there are at least a half dozen guys who could be approached (with the likelihood the discussions are already in progress) about signing an extension.. Guys included in this list (but not limited to these guys):

Steven Kwan
Gabriel Arias
Josh Naylor
Bo Naylor
Tanner Bibee
Gavin Williams
Logan Allen
Sam Hentges

While none of these guys are going to break records.. getting fiscal certainty could be more fully cemented with a few exceptions...

Thoughts?

Then it would be the same stupid mistake as not moving Bieber before the 23 season.
