I'm not sure what the heck happened yesterday but it was a particularly rough day in C-town. There were at least five separate incidents:

Four people are dead after a night of gunfire in Cleveland. Three more are near death in local hospitals, police said. Nearly a dozen others are recovering from gunshot wounds.

Cleveland firefighter Terrance Hough Jr., 35, is in jail, accused of shooting a neighbor and two visitors dead and injuring five others in a barrage of gunfire at 4375 Sky Lane Drive a little after midnight. Hough lives at 4381 Sky Lane Drive.

Hough worked at Station 33 at West 117th Street and Linnett Avenue. He was hired in September 1995, and has a discipline-free personnel file, an assistant chief said.

The other shootings and a slashing:

* 9:40 p.m. at 7317 Elton Ave., a woman was found slashed with a knife. Family members found Marnie Macon, 37, dead in her apartment with deep lacerations to her forehead and a shoulder. There are no suspects or motive yet, Stacho said.

* 9:55 p.m. at 105th Street and Somerset Drive, a man was shot in the head and is near death.

* 3 a.m. in the Warehouse District outside the Spy Bar, a man was shot in the head and may die. Three other men were shot and are recovering. Two of the men live in Twinsburg, Stacho said.

* 3:32 a.m. at the Baby Grand bar in the 3400 block of St. Clair Avenue, a man was shot in the face and is near death.

Cleveland firefighters were scrambling as well, fighting three major fires overnight, on 78th Street and Madison Avenue, on Bailey Avenue and in the 2600 block of West 41st Street.

The violence stunned even veteran police officers. "Sixteen years," Stacho said, referring to his years with the Cleveland Police Department. "Never seen anything like it."

NEW INFO: Firefighter guns down five over fireworks dispute

CLEVELAND -- A neighborhood dispute over fireworks ends in gunfire last night. Five people were shot three were killed.
Police say 35-year-old firefighter Terrence Hough Junior was arrested.

Hough has been with Station 33 at West 117th street and Linnett Avenue since 1995.

The Assistant Chief there says he has had a spotless record until this incident.

The shootings happened after midnight at 4375 Sky Lane on the City's West side.

In a press conference this morning, Police Spokesperson Lt. Thomas Stacho tells Channel Three in 16 years he has never seen anything like it.

Police say firefighter Hough fired on a number of unarmed 20-something party goers. Hough allegedly returned to his home next door immediately after the shooting.

If you expected him to call 9-1-1 he did not.

An off duty police officer who heard the commotion and saw the victims lying in the driveway followed hough into his home and held him at gun point until othert police arrived.

Hough was arrested and remains in custody.

Police took 12 weapons from his home. Seven of them are handguns five are rifles.

The suspected murder weapons was also recovered.

One of the three murder victims is identified as 24 year old Jacob Feichtner.

The other two are only identified as a male and a female in their 20's.

The other two injured were treated and released from Metrohealth Medical Center.

Thank god we have the right to bear arms.

Sad man, didn't we have one of the highest crime rates or murder rates last year?

"Cleveland is the city where we come from so run run"

You stay classy Cleveland Ohio.

Im sure this is probably a low count vs some of the other major cities, but Ill be honest, I dont feel safe in Akron or Cleveland at night. The violence in both cities is just unreal at this point.

Yeah i try to stay away from there. Im not really afraid of getting hurt or anything i just don't want to be involved in any stuff.

Spy Bar has gone down hill too. I used to like that place but now it reminds me of Splats.

I wonder what New Year's has in store for us this year.

Thanks for that post James... I honestly feel the same at this point.

I stayed at home with my family. We bbq-ed and just chilled in the house.
I think that just might be a routine I will do from now on.

The crime is way out of control.

Scary to think how things will be in the future since we can't control it now.

This and other worldy issues makes me second guess bringing a child into this world.

Its summer time, stuff like this happens everywhere, last year in August i remember DC had 20 murders in 15 days, that was crazy, and so far this year Philly is at 250+ Murders so far and its not even August. And B-More....if Baltimore had the same number of people as NYC, there would be 2,000+ Murders a year. Thats an actual statistic. People are crazy, but usually the craziness is concentrated in one area. Stay out of the area, and your fine. Some people make it sound like its GTA out in the world, hardly the case, violent crime is down overall in the states as low as its been in decades.

Yeah well just wait until another natural disaster strikes and nobody comes to help. All these people are gonna come out of their areas to yours seeking help and when people refuse all hell is going to break loose. I learned my lesson after Katrina hit and started getting stuff together to protect and take care of myself. Can't rely on the police or govt. anymore even if you do pay taxes.

To summarize what James just said, things are far from perfect today, but today is better than yesterday. Feel free to procreate, if you are so inclined.

Firefighter shot without warning

The Cleveland firefighter accused of shooting five young adults over firecrackers early Thursday never complained about the noise, a survivor said today.

"There was no warning," said 23-year-old Donny Walsh, who was shot in the arm. "There was nothing at all. There was no dispute."

Walsh said Terrance Hough Jr. walked out of his ranch home on Sky Lane Drive with a black gun and said, "I bet you guys won't be doing this shit again."

Walsh said Hough walked to the driveway of the house next door, where 24-year-old Jacob Feichtner lived, and shot Feichtner.

Walsh said Hough then shot Bruce Anderson, 30, of Parma and Katherine Rosby, 26, of Lakewood in the back. The couple had been sitting down, watching the lights and explosions around them, he said.

Then Hough threw up his hands and walked back into the house, Walsh said.

An off-duty police officer disarmed Hough, who was arrested and taken to City Jail. He was placed on suicide watch in jail.
