Problem is this team needs to draft a cornerstone type player (which Okoro isn’t) because no prime time player is coming here unless it’s via trade. Weisman and Edwards are only two players that come close to that! Not LaMelo, Advi, Okoro, or Toppin. I look at Advi and see another inconsistent Cedi. So if comes down between Okoro and Toppin I’ll take the boy out of Dayton

So, you’re willing to gamble that the player who is 3 years older isn’t more of a finished product and has the higher ceiling? A front office that wants instant results and isn’t willing or able to wait may very well agree with you.

I won't be surprised if Edwards or Ball falls to #5.

On the other hand, I won't be shocked if the Cavs take Haliburton, or Nesmith, or Saddiq Bey, or even Jalen Smith.

A lot of trades have already been finalized, and those might include draft picks. I don't think we'll know about them beforehand.

You’re acting like 22 is an old man.....;)
And yes Toppin is the more polished and finished product and I would take that option every day over somebody who has a “higher ceiling” who MAY NEVER reach that ceiling. It’s like “I’ll take the sure thing”! If (not saying it would happen) any team in the league offered me an older wing player who was averaging close to 18-19 points a game I would gladly give them the 5th pick. I believe in going with a proven product over a player who MIGHT pan out!

He's older than Sexton. All the development Sexton had done is already past for Toppin.

Also his hips move like he is 44

See, I disagree. In a draft where are very few sure things, I always take the guy with the highest ceiling. Toppin may be polished offensively, but there are some alarming things about him, other than being 3 years older than the other top prospects. Namely his defense, his lack of lower body strength & flexibility, and his poor lateral movement skills.

Then again, the Cavaliers were poised to take an older prospect, in DeAndre Hunter, last year, before the Hawks traded up ahead of us. Then they took 23 year old Dylan Windler with the #26 pick. So, the Cavaliers aren’t afraid of taking older, more mature prospects and may, in fact, prefer them.

I agree that this draft is filled with uncertainty and there are likely to be some surprise picks. That said, I’d be SHOCKED if the Cavs picked Nesmith, Bey, or Jalen Smith at #5. The biggest tell of who they’re considering is the list of 10 guys they worked out and none of those three were on that list. If I had to go with a surprise pick(s) for the Cavs it would be Patrick Williams or Devin Vassell, both of whom they worked out.

Are you saying his hips do lie'?

My picks, again:

1. Ball
2. Avdija
3. Haliburton

Let's see!

Do NOT want Ball.

Wiseman
Okongwu
Toppin or Okoro

FWIW:

With no rumors about a TT deal, I think it's gonna be a big.
I don't want Toppin
Wiseman and Okongwu might both be gone by #5 (but, again, may not)
I see the Cavs trading down, if they can, and get Jalen Smith
