#6: Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It doesn't lessen the disappointment of letting the game slip away, but I thought Mingo deserved a bump for making an impact today throughout the game. It needs to happen more...

Most disappointing game I think I've ever seen. Given the implications of the game. Where everyone basically shows up to play, especially on defense.

Mingo, Gilbert, Leonard, and Kruger. I can go on and on, but the QB lays the biggest egg ever.

What a depressing game, but kudos to the guys that showed up today.

Such a shame it ended up being for not.

Anyone else finding themselves screaming MINGO! every time he makes a play? It's like I'm completely surprised he did it and I'm mildly optimistic he can become a dominant player. Then the next play happens and he gets blown up on a run to his side of the field.

I was at the game yesterday; he seemed like a vocal leader out there. This might be a guy who becomes a very good player over the next few years, once he grows into his body. It is tougher to see his contribution off-camera because it doesn't stop at the whistle... On the sidelines, he was moving around and talking to a bunch of guys, he was calling out the defense part of the time and was relentless, even when lined up as a 3-4 DE... I was happy to see him make some plays.

On a side note, I called it out at my seat, but every time TY Hilton was put on Gilbert, the ball was going to him and nobody else... Luck had Weeden vision when JG had TY.

Barkevious has played well recently. He's also a pretty good example to have on the team, as far as building a culture is concerned. Granted, what was probably his most recognizable play was nullified by him engulfing Dalton. Still, I think there's reason to be optimistic moving forward with him.

I agree. Every week it seems like he provides more of an impact. I don't know what that ultimately means for him but it does seem like he belongs on the field now. Hopefully the off season surgery on his shoulder will allow him to do more next year.

There were times where outside of Kruger and Haden, I thought he was clearly the best player on the team yesterday.

Shit, I've been saying this all year long.

I just hate how people scout the stat sheet and say Mingo is a bust. The things he does so well aren't measured on the typical stat sheet-- though I think he's starting to grow on people actually watching.....

The guy is playing a well-rounded game with one fucking arm.

I know that his injury problems can be held against him when arguing "bust" status, but this guy is legitimately talented. A full, healthy year could propel him into stardom.

At the very least, he is an NFL starter.

I wonder how PFF grades Mingo's production. Do they take into account how many arms a guy plays with? :chuckle:

I kid. It's just that the more I focus on Mingo, the more I seem to come away from the play thinking he is reading/playing it correctly. What's been frustrating, to me, is how difficult it's been for him to make solo tackles. Maybe it has to do with the shoulder, but it's been an issue for him all season.

I dislocated a shoulder playing high school ball and I'm honestly not sure how the dude is playing football, especially linebacker (which was what I played), with a shoulder injury. It bothered me quite awhile afterwards and contact brought tears to my eyes every time the rest of that season. It's not the same injury, but hell yes that shoulder is affecting his play. There's no way it isn't. He's only been effective because of the growth in his mental game, imo. Which bodes really well for his future when he comes back healthy.

Meh. I'm fine with it. Pun intended.

@Deezy terrible?

“Indecency with a child” - that’s not good.
Definitely frowned upon….

This dude likes kids, the Winslow fella liked granny’s…. Then there was Johnny…

So glad that era is over

I looked into it, basically being accused of some type of sex with someone under 16. Charges are from an incident 2 years ago.

For the record, his attorney says these charges are false and money motivated. But they all say that.

Hoenstly i will let it play out a bit more before I form an opinion. Bond was only 25k, so manbe not a ton of evidence?
