Relievers are ready to go off the board, so who should I pick...

RP Bryan Shaw!

I need a durable and reliable late inning guy. Even with the grief he got in Cleveland he really was a solid guy for the team and usually was a league leader in appearances. I feel most people really didn’t appreciated what he really did for the team.
I was going back and forth between Shaw and LaRoche on my last pick. Opted for the lefty but I knew Shaw wouldn't last long. Good pick!

With my 18th round pick, the Wailing Wahoos select Brad Hand, closing pitcher.

Hand.jpg

Career w/ CLE: 2018-present
Career Stats w/ CLE: 6-5, 2.96 ERA, 2.94 FIP, 1.21 WHIP, 42 SV, 125 K, 85.0 IP, 1x All-Star

Despite being on the team for only one and a half full seasons now, Hand is still legal for the reasons given in the rules on the first page, same as guys like Bieber and Mercado. Hand has been great for 2/3rds of his stint in Cleveland thus far, and seemed to run out of gas post-ASG in 2019. I don't really have a specific season to choose here, so I'll just throw the following statlines at you guys:

2018 w/ CLE: 2.28 ERA, 3.23 FIP, 1.15 WHIP, 8 SV, 13.3 K/9, 0.9 WAR, 27.2 IP
2019 First Half: 2.17 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 23 SV, 13.3 K/9, 1.1 WAR, 37.1 IP

I guess you can kind of merge that into Hand's first full season with us where he was as dominant as any closer in the American League. Not too many great lefties left, so I'm glad to take Hand and add him to Miller, Mesa, and Pestano.

@JDailey23 is on the clock for back to back picks; draft board is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vhOOAVnG0Q_8Iol125TTlzYdmgpyBo2v3oz28mybcD4/edit#gid=0

Also, forgot to mention, anybody on the 2019 Indians is fair game too. A guy like Shane Bieber technically wouldn't qualify since he's only been on the team for two seasons, but I'm not going to hold that against him since he hasn't had the chance to be a three year guy yet. If you want to draft a Shane Bieber, Brad Hand, or Oscar Mercado, feel free to do so. I will say no Yasiel Puig though since there's no chance he's here next season.
@BMAN

He did say this in post #2

Not gonna lie I would have taken Mercado & Hand awhile ago (questioned Bieber too)

But my team is superior as is.... Cy Young & Bartolo... So it doesn’t really compromise me...

Yeah, I haven't been able to edit posts in literally probably five or six months or I would've had that rule in the original post. It is in post #2 and was in place before the draft started, so the 2019 Indians sans Puig who definitely won't be on the team next year, have been fair game the entire time.

With my 19th round selection, the Wailing Wahoos take Paul Assenmacher, reliever.

Paul.jpg

Career w/ CLE: 1995-1999
Career Stats w/ CLE: 19-10, 3.83 ERA, 3.61 FIP, 1.41 WHIP, 8 SV, 209 K, 214 IP, 3.8 WAR

Assenmacher was a staple reliever for those powerhouse Indians teams of the mid and late 1990s and gives me a solid third lefty to put behind Andrew Miller and Brad Hand.

His 1997 season stuck out to me as his overall best, although you could make a case for both 1995 and 1996 as well. In '97, Assenmacher went 5-0 with a 2.94 ERA, 3.25 FIP, 1.18 WHIP, 4 SV, 53 K, 49 IP, 9.7 K/9, and 1.5 WAR.

Not a world beater by any means, but I'm happy to get a steady lefty like Assenmacher in the 19th round.

My bullpen is now: Andrew Miller, Jose Mesa, Brad Hand, Vinnie Pestano, and Paul Assenmacher.

Also, if anybody wants to take over for JDailey, he needs five relievers and a backup catcher. If no takers, I'll do my best to make fair selections for him when his turn comes up.
