This guy is not an NBA quality player. Another miss by Koby when it comes to picking usigned/drafted talents.

I agree it's a miss but any GM is going to have misses. If it's a free agent signing on a two way contract mid season, it doesn't hurt much. It would such to sign a player and they show out then we have to cut him when we make a trade or we pass up a trade to keep a guy on the roster. I think Harrison was as much a flexibility signing as anything.

It's not just this miss though , our camp invites were all uniformly terrible too. Also just look at the Canton Charge they're a bad G-league team with castoffs from our training cmap and summer league rosters.

What's the hit rate of undrafted players and mid-season call ups from the G-league though? It can't be that high. I think what will be more important going forward is to take our shots with other players.

You and I have had this conversation before , but Grant alone got Delly and Gee from the undrafted players and midseason call ups pools, even Donald Sloan was decent for what he was and superior in most ways compard to Andrew.

And Grant had countless others that didn't help the team. I think finding a backup PG will be harder than usual because Clarkson is a weird player to play with. The pool is smaller now with two way contracts.

I will chalk up Harrison to another G-league miss. Hill will be back soon and we will have to reassess our needs once all the vets are move after the trade deadline.

Here is a list of guys Grant had on the roster to find guys like Delly and Gee. I probably missed some. I even left off guys like Earl Clark and Ryan Holin who should have been in the d-league. I don't feel like going on a deep dive to find the guys he brought to camp too.

Semih Erden
Manny Harris
Samardo Samuels
Jawad Williams
Luke Harangody
Lester Hudson
D.J. Kennedy
Ben Uzoh
Mychel Thompson
Kevin Jones
Jeremy Pargo
Chris Quinn
Scotty Hopson
Shane Edwards
Carrick Felix
Arinze Onuaku
Henry Sims

Willaims was signed 2 yeras beofre Grant was prmoted to GM. Arinze was signed after Grant was fired. As was Hopson. Also Sims went on to have a couple decently producitve years (stats wise) as a bench big for Philly and Brooklyn.

John Holland
Kobi Simmons
Emanuel Terry
London Perantes
Andrew Harrisson
Isiah Taylor
Levi Randolph
Billy Preston

That's 8 to Grant's 14 misses, over half already in 1 and a quarter seasons , compared to Grant's three and a half. I'm not saying Grat was a good talent evaluator I'm not he was pretty bad, I'm just saying that so far Kobi hasn't been impressive in finding players to develop from these types of talent pools. Signing Holland last year was inexcusable for instance. A 28 year old takes up a devlopmental spot lol.

Half of those 8 are just camp invites. Like I said I'm not going to go on a deep dive to find those for Grant, probably at least doubles the list. I get being annoyed that we aren't finding talent. I hated on the Hollands and Perrantes picks for two ways. Grants hit rate was like 10% for undrafted/d-league guys he gave roster spots to.

It will take time to find some undrafted talent. I personally won't knock Koby for not finding any because even hitting on a 2nd round pick isn't high, just look at the past 5 drafts and count the hit rate around the league. I expect Koby to give more chances to undrafted guys after the trade deadline.

Agents and players aren't dumb either about how they pick what teams to go to camp with or who they take two way contracts from. They know how deep teams are with their roster and who has positions of needs. We have no clue who got offers from the Cavs outside the couple that were leaked. I know Koby wanted Shabazz Napier and Shane Larkin. Most PGs knew we wouldn't have many minutes for a PG with Sexton, Hill, and Clarkson.

Can we end this experiment now?

I do not like this guy. He hurts my eyes to watch play (attempt) the game of basketball.

Hoping when Hill is back means the end of him.

My guess is his playing time will be done. I'm not 100% sure that he will be assigned to the G-league or waived though. I read we promised to keep him for the 45 days so he might be with the team till that runs out. We don't want to burn any bridges with his agent over a couple weeks of NBA money.

This thread title never ceases to crack me up when I log in. Never change it.
