Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

Wrong Side Of The Stat: Cavs' Anthony Bennett's 2 points through his first 4 games is the lowest toal for a #1 overall pick since 1966.

Oof.

He is indeed pretty fat for an NBA player.

Wow. He must be able to squat a semi truck with those thighs. This guy won't be in basketball shape until the All Star break. And he won't be playing in the Rookie game.

EDIT: He won't be playing because he only gets 10 min a game. Once he is in shape he should be fine.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

I still think he would get his basket and probanly start playing better if he jist got a chance to play a few minutes with kyrie

Why is the original Anthony Bennett thread locked?

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

In his interviews with the Cavs, Jack always sounds like he's going to be a coach someday. I mean that in a good way.

He also said that he needs to find ways as a PG to get Bennett the ball in places Bennett can operate. We'll see how that goes...

Mike Brown said in his interview that sitting Bennett is not under consideration at this point.

Why is the original Anthony Bennett thread locked?

It got closed, probably because of a number of offensive (and now deleted) posts that were dragging that thread toward the gutter. So Ben opened this new one.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

If there's ever a good time to slump, it's the very beginning of the season.

Amen. That's what I've been yelling at the TV the past week. :chuckles:

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

I love how ESPN talking heads are calling Bennet a bust after the first 4 games of his rookie career. If the 1# pick can't make a shot is it because:

A: He has no talent.

B: He's an underperforming rookie big, dealing with serious but fixable issues (coming off an injury, physical fitness), and isn't the focus of the cavs offensive efforts nor should he be.

To me, Bennet's offensive struggle in itself is more a symptom of larger offensive problems with the Cavs than an indication he is a failed pick. I'll want to wait at least halfway through the season before I start to gauge the quality of our pick. Call me crazy. It's been four games. Players miss shots in basketball.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

Saw a great quote on Twitter today, can't remember from who:

"You know, there was a time in Nov 2011 when Norris Cole was better than Kyrie Irving"

I remember that vividly. And I remember the panic. Now, Kyrie hadn't gone 0-fer in his first four games, but the same "bust pick" talk was going pretty strong, and a iot of pining for Derrick Williams.

Re: Anthony Bennett - Still A Work In Progress

Bennett is following suit with the rest of our team...we knew coming into this season that our team can score but had problems stopping the other team and we knew that Anthony was a good offensive player who struggled on defense. Now, 4 games in, our defense is one of the best in the league and our offense is having problems while AB has the best defensive rating on the team (out of all the regulars), the 2nd best rebounding rate on the team, and is getting a steal a game as a forward while he can't hit the broad side of a barn on offense.
