Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Goodbye Anthony. I will always remember your historically bad first 4 games in a uniform. It wasn't your fault Gilbert picked you.

Biggest scrub of all time. Go to Europe and enjoy life/basketball.

That's not the story that was told here. The cavs wanted to trade down, but Gilbert wanted to swing big and Chris Grant thought that Bennett was the guy to take at #1. Grant at the helm was a disaster. We got lucky with LeBron wanting to come back and Griff being an actual quality GM had to unfuck us.

There are no excuses for how bad the Waiters and Bennett picks were. For the longest time I was mad at the Tristan pick because of how low his ceiling was with where we picked him in the draft. At least he actually turned out to be an actual NBA level talent.

If we traded sown we would have Stephen Adams! FUCK!

Grant was sort of in a no-win position in that summer. Even if he was allowed to trade down, there was no way to get anything more than pennies on the dollar for a number 1 pick because no one wanted to pay first round pick money on a gamble. So he couldn't trade down and was encouraged to swing for the fences. Wiff! The draft dug Grants grave while Jarrett Jack and Andrew Bynum gleefully shoveled the dirt on top.

I'm not going to give him any rope because he decided that Bennett was going to be the guy if he stayed. It was beyond awful. Nobody was happy with it and he sucked golf balls through a garden hose. Dion Waiters was barely a better selection.

Chris Grant was awful for us. Nothing can convince me otherwise.

I have no complaints on the TT pick. We don't win a ring without him. Despite his limitations he plays a very valuable role with the offensive rebounding and his defense, and he isn't afraid of the moment.

I thought I'd rue that Wiggins trade for a decade, but it turns out what we'll really rue is that we didn't pick the guy who I think is going to be the best player in the league after Lebron fades. But 14 other teams can rue that as well.

So what's the story with this kid?

Is he lacking in motivation? Mental issues?

What's the deal? He is crashing and burning in epic ways worse than any #1 I can think of that didn't have well advertised injuries or serious attitude issues coming in.

He doesn't like basketball enough to put in any work at it.

There a section in his interview where he reminiscences about the time he stopped playing but then started back up as he got a bit fat and he was better than the others without trying
