Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sure what went wrong with this kid. I remember watching his college highlight reel feeling damn giddy. He honestly looked like he had all the skills for a big that are the hardest to develop. Good footwork, good dribble drive, and sneaky athleticism.

The problem is he had literally no other skills besides those. Including the so called “easy” ones.

Greg Oden directly ahead of Kevin Durant
You can defend this pick

It's not like Coward would have ever won anything in Portland when he couldn't even win with russ, ibaka, and Harden. And he would've taken the first trip he could out of town to a better team

Durant is the biggest fraud in the league

I agree that the Oden pick was more bad luck than a bad decision vs. Durant. Injury risk is always very high with big men (Walton, Bowie, Oden, Ming, Z).

Here's hoping LeBron and friends prove you right about Durant's chest cavity. I think we won the Finals last year because, outside of Green, our guys had more heart, more balls, and more resilience. Durant won't help them in those areas.

Obligatory bump....

This time in Houston's the charm for him, with Pringles working his magic? Maybe?

Loving looking back at posts on pgs 1-3 or so. Like a lot of us loved this guy in college but it should have been clear INSTANTLY this guy was a bust.

My gawd, the first few pages of this thread...those were dark days in Cavs Land. Ppl talking bout the Kyrie/Dion/Bennett core. We had Zeller and Karasev too. Oh wow.

Houston signed him? Interesting. Would like to see what he does with Westbrook and Harden (still can't believe that trade).

I remember that people booed the pick in the now closed McCarthers. I immediately knew he was a bust when he didn't start game 1 of his rookie season. This set huge alarms in my head. This isn't the NFL where you sit you no1 pick QB down with a clipboard. Dude fucken sucks and is fat POS.

It was strange seeing a guy who was completely unable to adjust to the NBA both physically and mentally. Hopefully he has grown up some and took care of the sleep apnea, weight, and conditioning issues. He has talent.

Talent wise, Bennett was no joke. You might think that, but its untrue. Once he came back from the injury, we could see his mind was not in the right place.

Crazy draft: only 3 out of the top 10 picks being good players (Oladipo, Porter, and McColloum who was #10). The rest were all basically busts even some of them see some minutes like Zeller and Noel. Then after the top 10 it's gets crazy you have a likely HOF/Multi-MVP player in Giannis at 15 and maybe the second best player in the draft in Gobert at fucking #27! But you also got starters in Adams at 12, Schroder 15, Roberson, Hardaway.

Don't think I've ever seen that where the second half of the draft is head and shoulder better then the first 1/2 (counting giannis as second half)

Probably wanted out of that organization with the whole China thing anyways...

True. But I do remember some pundits at the time saying that was a possibility. I remember hearing Giannis' name in particular being mentioned as a sleeper freak.
