Strengths: 6’4 combo guard with elite level athleticism … Shows a good feel for the game and competitiveness … Good size and length for position with a 6’9 wingspan and 8’4 standing reach … Strong build. At 17, already has an NBA body … Uses his strength well and should be able to add additional strength … Finishes well with contact and can bully smaller guards … High-level athleticism, good body control, and hang time … Has a quick first step … Gets to the rim and throws down dunks in traffic … Gets going down hill with a dribble drive and finishes well with either hand … Natural scoring ability … Shoots well from three and can shoot from NBA range … Needs just a little bit of space to get his shot off … Adept ballhandler and drives with either hand … Keeps his head up and has good court vision … Reads double teams well … Passes out of drives … Good rebounder for his position … Good tools and athleticism defensively … Blocks shots well for a guard … Makes the game look easy … Good competitor and doesn’t lack for confidence … Youth is on his side. One of the youngest incoming freshmen, won’t turn 18 until August, 2019 …

Weaknesses: Can improve as a free throw shooter. Shot just 58.3% FT% over the Under Armour Association in 2018 … Solid playmaker but has room to improve if he’s going to play both guard positions in the NBA … Can work on limiting turnovers … Can improve midrange scoring, tends to utilize deep threes or getting all the way to the rim … Doesn’t really pick his spots as a midrange shooter or show much of a floater … For someone who can get to the rim and challenge the help defender, he settles for a lot of deep, contested shots … Can learn to incorporate more movement when playing off the ball … Should study players like Steph Curry on how to use constant movement and coming off off of screens to set up shots …

6’4 combo guard...
Combo guard?! I'm in!

Seriously, thanks for doing all these Ben. We needed a bit of a kick in here. So can someone who knows more than I do tell me how this guy would fill a different role than KPJ, or would it be the same? Not saying the same player...just the same/very similar role.

I think he'd benefit quite a bit by being slotted in as a true wing instead of a combo guard

This guy should easily be the pick if available. Start him at SG and Porter at SF.

Sexton, Edwards, Porter, Nance ; 4 guys who can handle the ball, assist, shoot and create their own offense (except Nance on this one) would be lethal in the league. They just need to learn to play off ball and this team would be one of the best offensive young teams in the league.

Now the Cavs just need an elite defensive center and rim protector and this team would be ready for a playoffs run if Porter and Edwards continue to develop.

Keep Andre Drummond.

I would be a bit concerned about him playing SF at only 6'4"..not saying he couldn't but there are a bunch of taller SF's he'd have to defend.

We'll have to wait and see how he actually measures, but in the past, he likely would have been listed at 6'6 or possibly more considering he's currently listed at 6'5.

You have to remember that they just switched up measurements from w/shoes to w/out. We need to re-align our expectations for positional heights.

He could end up measuring similarly to Justise Winslow or Andre Iguodala.

Please tell me why this guy is being discussed as the consensus top choice. Certainly an uber athlete but not very tall, shot poorly from behind the college 3 point line and didn't win at Georgia. The 2nd half against Michigan State seems to be the most cited reason but somehow playing the first half he led them to a 52-31 deficit and they still lost by 8. I am not denying he will score points but does he do the things that make the team as a whole better or just shoot with enough volume to crank up stats?

He is inexperienced compared to other players. Started playing seriously as a sophomore in high school. Went from unknown to possible #1 pick in 3 years. He has the raw tools, but he was a football player, so his skills and experience are behind.

I don't think he is #1 material though. I am not sure he is gonna be as good as Sexton. I think he won't be. I'd give more credit if i thought he could play SF. Porter has a better chance of that IMO.

Lots of red flags, but I do think he has a path to being a good player. bad fit for the cavs

thats how bad this draft class is.
Okongwu and Haliburton are probably the safest high floor options in the lottery although neither has the same upside as a WIseman or Edwards in most peoples minds, the truth is Okongwu and Haliburton are probably far more likely to be better pros.
There are some others as well, and Edwards has potential as a defender not just a volume shooter. He can slash and score and get hot like JR Swish , but have plenty of cold shooting nights as well.
I would take Edwards top 6 but not necessarily over others depending on my plans for the roster

He's not good. He would also be a terrible fit with what we currently have. He's a chucker who can't shoot from range. Not sure why he's getting number 1 hype but its undeserved.
