Any Anime watchers?

Finished Faraway Paladin. It was solid overall but I don't think it stood out in any particular way.

Anyone seen season 2 of "The Promised Neverland" yet?

I am slowly working on season 1 (like 3 episodes in). I keep getting distracted but the premise so far seems interesting. Is this as close to shin sekai yori as i think it is?

The Hidden Dungeon only I can Enter was destroyed by the people who did it in the anime... They did 5 light novel books in 12 episodes and skipped over way soo much...

So a question for peeps out there... Would you rather have some more filler that adds more character depth or just stay to the action parts and lose the story? I am honestly leaning towards adding the character fillers since you actually get to immerse yourself in that world and the characters of it. Its just annoying going from the light novel to the anime and having so much stuff left out that it actually hurts the story's chances of success...

Id rather they take time to develop characters. If you think about some of the best shows out there (FMA:B, One Piece, GITS), they really focus on that. Even some of the more recent shows that were really notable (Shield hero, Kimetsu no Yaiba, JJK) do the same. The shows you see not get a second season are usually the ones that try to cram 50 chapters/5 novels into 12 episodes and are just utter trash.

Then why do companies give the anime makers a certain numbers of episodes, wouldn't it be better in the end to have them make episodes for the amount of time that makes sense to get the LN/manga onto the screen?

Theory is that if its good it will get a 2nd season and so on. The showrunners just do a bad job of adapting too much into too small a time space. It happens with a lot of books that get made into movies too.

Haven't seen Shinsekai Yori just yet so I'm not too sure. Season 1 was a great watch, though. Super well-produced anime IMO, from character art to direction to score.

I haven't started season 2 just yet, but I've heard some criticisms...

Sounds like I need to finish it then. Shinsekai Yori is somewhat niche but I really liked it. Its got a bit of horror, a bit of the psychological stuff, and some politics too. And the whole cast is like 14, but thats about 70% of anime anyway

Got ya. Sounds great. I'll give it a go. Just discovered "Futsal Boys!!!!!" after doing a bit of browsing. Sounds right up my alley also, although not really sure how this kind of concept would effectively translate to anime: https://myanimelist.net/anime/40488/Futsal_Boys

Sounds pretty run of the mill for sports anime. Pretty large genre which has like 2 good shows and a lot of stinkers

I love Ace of Diamond from that genre! I thought it was well done...
Haven't seen that one but I can recommend Hakyuu (volleyball) and Slam Dunk (basketball). I guess Chihyafuru is technically that genre but it might be one of the most niche shows I have ever seen.

Better get to watching Ace of Diamond. I honestly think it's one of the best sports animes out there right now.
