Any bowlers at RCF?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
gravedigging this ish

jednota lanes, it's a slovak men's club thing, hence the cheap alcohol

i was on fire last night, just had that feeling where i could have closed my eyes and thrown left handed and still nail strikes

first game i left the 10 pin 5 times though. closed with 5 strikes, opened second game with 4 strikes. would have bowled my best game ever in second game but threw a gutter ball on last ball wtf. we only won the game by three points. oops.

tapered off in the last game but still had a 198

624 series, might be a new high for me.

need to get my thumb drilled out, it catches a bit sometimes, which scrapes up my thumb, makes it swell up and catch worse.

Roll fingertip without using the thumb. Takes some work to get used to, but I found it a lot easier for me to get the hook I wanted on my throws.

see: beginning of this thread, lol

i switched from fingertip to fingers plus thumb last year. granted not the most fair comparison because i was using a house ball with fingertips only, and started throwing with the thumb when i got my new ball.

i did well without the thumb, though i was less consistent.

It was interesting to locate a bowling thread (I'm big into bowling)..
Lets see if this thread can get restarted.

Ugh sometimes life just throws you a 7-10 split... amirite?!?

Yep.. Pocket 7-10 last Friday in 9th frame of gm 1. Had the 1st 8 frames with strikes to that point....
Its the way life rolls.

Shake it off & move forward

F yeah bowling, forgot I made this thread.

Bowled a ~594 last Thursday, high game of 235, average is around 175. Couldn't figure anything out the first game but covered most of my spares and had a ~160, was mostly automatic after that. I'm usually good for a run of like 5-6 strikes every night, usually comes in the second game. That brief window where you either throw a perfect ball, or it doesn't matter if it's perfect because all the pins fall over. The lanes I bowl at are...inconsistent to say the least, but all in good fun.

Bowled by far my highest game ever last year, 277. Definite out of body experience. Got me a plaque and everything.

Well, the day I have dreaded has arrived... 8/1/20....
The official USBC bowling rules updating the allowable drilling on bowling balls is now in effect...
Simply stated: if there is a hole in the ball, it must have a body part (finger or thumb) in it while being thrown.

No more weight holes allowed (for traditional bowlers). No more two handed bowlers using only fingers and open thumb hole.

I still have a few pieces with the extra weight hole. Have honor/ real high scores with them. Can't bring myself to plug the weight hole so each goes into honored retirement (before the shell or weight block cracking)...

Time to make some new memories with other items..

I haven't been in a league since elementary school, but I've always been a good bowler with just lane balls.

I've bowled 200+ games a bunch with a high of 267. For that game, I ended the previous game with 4 strikes in a row then started the next one with 10 in a row. I fucking choked that 10th frame.

I guess some of these newer pieces I picked up are pretty good.
Tossed 250 in my 2nd league game with the Jackal Ghost (by Motiv)...

The Most Cleveland Story Ever (from the LA Times):

Lucille Perk, 82; Spurned Invitation to Nixon White House
OCT. 12, 2001
12 AM
Lucille Perk, 82, who was said to have declined an invitation to the Nixon White House because it was her bowling night, died Saturday in Cleveland of congestive heart failure.
Perk was the widow of Ralph J. Perk, mayor of Cleveland from 1972 through 1977. He died in 1999.
Pressed for an explanation why his wife did not accompany him to a White House dinner with President Nixon in December 1972, the mayor explained that she was bowling. Perk later said she didn’t attend the dinner because she would not have had time to get her hair done.
Born Lucille Gagliardi in Cleveland, Perk was an active participant in her husband’s political career.

Time to dust of this thread and give a tip of the cap to local pro bowler Patrick Dombrowski.
Pat was participating in the 2022 U.S. Open being held in Indianapolis, IN. He placed 13th in the tournament & tossed the 1st of 3 perfect games during the match play round.
The finals will be shown live on FS1 on Sunday 2/6/22.
