Got the DV8 drilled on Tuesday, guy seemed pretty good though he didn't watch me throw any balls (dunno if that would have helped since I threw no-thumb style but eh). Measured my hand all different ways, etc. he had great things to say about the DV8. Immediately after I bowled four games and didn't break 120, lol. Ball was throwing me.

Bowled in the league last night, felt okay warming up with the ball so I decided to stick with it. Bowled about 150, 180, 150. Surprisingly fatigue wasn't an issue, i was throwing it harder at the end of the night than when I started. Had three gutter balls on the night, two of which came after back to back strikes, ugh - would have had my best game in weeks if I didn't do that. And the third game was five open then five closed, hah.

I think next week will be really good though.

Not getting as much turn as when I used no thumb and the lane ball, but I think I will have wayyy more consistency with this approach. When I throw this new ball good, it's GOOD, pins just explode, so much action. I can't let this ball get as far outside as the lane ball though, don't have enough strength/torque in my throw to bring it all the way back to the pocket. Sill turns pretty hard in the back end though despite my lack of torque. Few times I hit the pocket on het he wrong side but the amount of action I got still netted a strike.

Can't get the 10 pin spare though for the life of me with this ball, that used to be automatic with the house ball. Oddly enough with the house ball I struggled getting any spare when anything was left on get the left side of the lane, seems to be opposite with this ball.

I was also dealing with gas all night and that probably hurt my game as well.

Still not doing very well but my average has stabilized a bit at 165...started the season at 183 or so, ugh

A few weeks ago I bowled three games, 17 strikes, and only 4 spares...lol

Right or Left handed?

Also do you know how to read the oil lay on both synthetic and wood lanes?

About to really get back into bowling with the current state of cleveland sports. Haven't upgraded equipment in a decade. Last ball I owned was a danger zone and a pirannha(?) C. Im still a G with a house ball though. Need to get some new equipment and get back to throwing with my thumb again. Ironically enough my high game is with a house ball @ 267.

Used to be in a bowling league. And went around with my Grandpa to VFW tournaments and bowled with him, my dad and his friends. Have my own ball, but use lane shoes (heard having your own shoes can increase your score by 5-10 pins once you get used to them)

Average last league was 189. High game 290. (First game of the tournament and the lanes were just set up perfectly for my slight curve, nailed a 9pin, somehow the 7 stuck. then struck out 11 in a row) Next throw in the 2nd game I was still nervous and kind of on the high of getting a 290 I slid too far and into the lane and fell on my ass in front of everyone.

Now I just bowl every once in a while. Fun to go out and have a few pitchers.

Righty, and not really but I don't think I'm at the point where the oil matters, I just struggle to throw the same ball twice. Ball is still a little too heavy for me and I haven't been working out like I should be to get some strength. This really becomes a problem when I try to "aim" it for spares, hence 17 strikes and 4 spares in three games. Will probably just go back to a plastic ball for cleanup.

I do really like the DV8 Misfit though, when I throw a good ball it's a thing of beauty.

Don't have a lot of time to get into it (root canal in an hour) but I've bowled my whole life...learned how to read lanes when I was around 15 years old and have carried a 180 or higher average ever since, last league I was in I was at 205.

Here are some decent articles on reading lanes, once you learn how to do that you only need 1 ball, ever..I've thrown the same Chaos resin coated ball for over decade. The only lanes I really have a problem with are the guardian lanes, for some reason the way the oil moves on those lanes drives me nuts on those

Hope some of that helps and if you're ever in Columbus PM me I'm down to throw a few games!

Yeah, there's a place by me that you pay $5 to get in, $1 games but then it's 50c (8oz) beers, 25c hot dogs/slushies. Little place with only 20 lanes or so, and there's always a wait on those days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) but if you get in, cheap to get blasted and bowl a bit.

Where at in Akron? I grew up there. Always went to that bowling alley on the corner of Miller/Market & Stonehedge (I believe was the name)

Stonehedge was awesome...I loved that place especially as a kid.

sdsu installed bowling alleys.. free bowling.. stoked as fuh

gravedigging this ish

jednota lanes, it's a slovak men's club thing, hence the cheap alcohol

i was on fire last night, just had that feeling where i could have closed my eyes and thrown left handed and still nail strikes

first game i left the 10 pin 5 times though. closed with 5 strikes, opened second game with 4 strikes. would have bowled my best game ever in second game but threw a gutter ball on last ball wtf. we only won the game by three points. oops.

tapered off in the last game but still had a 198

624 series, might be a new high for me.

need to get my thumb drilled out, it catches a bit sometimes, which scrapes up my thumb, makes it swell up and catch worse.
