Anyone else play JRPGs?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, it's seriously looking like the first half of this year will be...

Finishing Persona 5 Royal
Playing Persona 3 Portable
Playing Persona 4 Golden
Playing Fire Emblem Engage
Playing Octopath Traveler II

All this after my only exposure to JRPGs beforehand was the Pokemon games.
Gonna be busy!

I personally don't like Portable as much as the FES Version of Persona 3... Mostly cause they made certain things, Aka the graphics are different...

Portable is closer to Persona 2 in style...

While FES is closer to 4 in style

So why they chose Portable to put onto the switch is silly. Portable you don't really get to move around your avatar to talk to people. You just move around a mouse arrow in circular form and click on objects and people. That would be fun as mobile gaming, but not as a Switch game...

Fire Emblem Engage isn't as good as Three Houses... Finish the 4 stories in that one if I am being sincere. Engage isn't bad, but it's closer to the old ones and no way to legitimately level grind or gold grind... Also the romances aren't there... There is only one... It just doesn't have the character depth and interactions the previous few had.

Also Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series and Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana are two of my favorites, so find it in your heart to play those lol

Started playing the Octopath Traveler 2 demo and it’s a lot of fun. My personal favorites are Hikari, Osvald, Throne, and Castii for story wise.

Does it feel any different than the first I the demo?

I feel they listened to the players this round. The characters talk to each other in battle when you cure/support them. They try to make the characters mingled and probably will see more after the demo.

When you meet the characters for the first time, it’s not forced in joining and they try to make a story out of it.

Music, graphics, and animation are even better. Being able to go on canoes and eventually with the ship will give more freedom. There is one extra job in the demo and you don’t fight a boss to get it. I also think there are still extra secret jobs where there are shrines like the first one.

The stories for some of these characters are very interesting and unique which makes it very curious for the following chapters.

The first octopath was a solid game and if they fixed its issues and complaints... This may end up being a game that jumps to the top of all time JRPGs...

I think this time they will somehow connect all the characters to the main story rather than the final secret boss

Remastered Tales of Symphonia is going to end up on at least one of my consoles before long, just so I can relive the sweet, fuzzy nostalgia of my Gamecube days.

Such a good game! They have a lot of good games in that series! (Wish the newer ones where a little better...)

Music remains good, but it's not grabbing me like P5R did. I enjoy playing it, but I don't feel the "oh man, gotta play this today" urge with it like I did with P5R.

P5R is just so good the other games in the series just aren't as interesting. It's like having the best player in the league getting replaced by a solid player but not as good. You just aren't as excited even though the game/player is still good just not ad good lol

The Ys 9 games is the same way. Ys 8 is just so good, playing 9 is like, the game is good just not as captivating. 4 is better than 3 btw, but all of them are very solid games in the end.

After Octopath Traveler 2, I really recommend putting Ys 8 - Lacrimosa of Dana as the next one. It's an action JRPG with a great story!

I'm thinking Rune Factory 5 is gonna be my next game after P3P. I have the itch to do some farming and romance the local lasses, and I've done that too much in Stardew Valley, so it's on to a different setting.

Octopath Traveler 2 has been a lot of fun. It reminds me the good ol FF6, Chrono Trigger days but with the enhanced HD-2D graphics. Stories are a lot better this time and I really love the break and boost gameplay system. The soundtrack is amazing. I also like that when you beat side bosses you get rewarded. It does a good job in rewarding exploration.

I was also excited that the Baiten Kaitos remaster for the switch is coming. these two were my gamecube JRPGs
