Anyone else play JRPGs?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This game was needed like 5 years ago. I have played at least one of every gen Pokemon game since RBY and the games have been super stale since BW. They tried to change things up with SuMo but didn't fix the core problems.

Arceus has been excellent thru 15 hours. The new battle system is a little too simplified for my taste, but otherwise I like the new things you need to do and i think EXP share on makes way more sense in this game format. Graphics are a step up above SwSh which was a pleasant surprise. I am not buying Pokemon for HD 4k graphics so not a big deal to me.

On another note, I finally got around to playing and finishing FF9. It was pretty good but I dont really see why everyone thinks its the best FF. I haven't played enough to judge, but this game felt weaker than quite a few other JRPGs I have played.

My problem with the experience share for a guy who level grinds, it makes the game way too easy... I am like 50 and just opened up the second area in the game lol get any shiny pokemon yet outside of Ponyta? I found a Bidoof and Haunter so far.

FF9 is my brothers favorite Final Fantasy game... I think I appreciate it more as I got older though.

I am actually waiting for Triangle Strategy to come out next month. I think that one should be really good personally.

Just a Bidoof although I haven't been battling too much. exp share was way more annoying in BDSP. They redid the damage formula for this game so levels dont matter as much as they do in the mainline game. As it is, I have been rotating about 10 mons in and out of the party, so I am a bit underlevelled.

FF9 and FFTA are the only ones I have finished, but I remember feeling like 6 and 13 where better. Also Last Story if that counts.

I saw a few things about Triangle Strategy! It looks interesting

Gotcha, I like some of the new mechanics as well in the game, but it does though change some of the storyline since where are the different pokemon in their in the future. As my brother said, it's very possible they use parallel dimension theory to create new games in a sense with different mechanics to keep things new and interesting...

Honestly I have Triangle Strategy preordered so that way I get it when it comes out. I have a hunch it may not be easy to get when it first comes out..

Also Edge of Eternity is coming to console (next week) it was only available on steam and is a pretty good game and that's coming here soon as well. It's one to check out honestly...

They other which gives me Shin Megami Tensei vines is Monark, which comes out later this month... if you are getting bored of the current game you have lol

Also if you have any Ps1/Ps2 era JRPGs you don't like/want to play anymore, the prices have skyrocketed lately... let me know if ya want to get rid of any since I do collect haha

Yeah they have been doing some multiple timelines stuff since omega ruby/alpha sapphire. Gotta say Legends has to be my favorite pokemon game since Coliseum on the GC.

I just looked into Triangle Strategy a bit more and really sounds right up my alley so I will probably end up preordering it too.

I just got the Ps4 version of Edge of Eternity in the mail today. It's one for RPG fans to at least look at! It's on Steam as well...

Anyone play Xenoblade? With a new one coming, thinking about playing the whole series.

Xenoblade honestly is a legit series in my mind. What style of game do you normally like to play?
Normally I'm more into turn based but I'm open to being into more action based. And other than XCOM, I'm usually out on the grid/tactical rpgs.

You would like Xenoblade then! I put a fair amount of hours into on the 3DS and Switch lol

Also if you guys are looking for a JRPG done in a different way, Square Enix's Voice of the Cards is actually pretty interesting. I think there is still a demo available if you want to take a look before you would buy. The second game for it is out now I believe (or is coming out very soon)

Whats everyone been playing? I am waiting for Triangle Strategy to come out...

Also I just picked up Monarch... it's okay... if feels like Caligula effect honestly. Battles can be rough at first, but they don't do very well with character building and whatnot so the story is a little bland...

@Amherstcavsfan

I think you would like Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana... it became one of my favorites quickly and I own hundreds of games, so it takes a lot to impress me.

Also waiting on Triangle Strategy. In the meantime, playing thru Trails in the Sky for the first time and replaying my favorite, Golden Sun.

How are you liking Trials in the Sky?

That series has more games coming out over the next couple years that I am so excited about!
