It's way too soon to talk about this. But maybe not.

Jose Ramirez is 31 years old and has played 12 MLB seasons.
Right now, he is a 5X All-Star, 6X Silver Slugger. His WAR is 46.3
He has 1,354 hits and 221 HR's.

If he plays another 8-9 years, his numbers will be in the HOF ballpark.

The problem is, the best part of JRam's game doesn't show up in statistics - HUSTLE.
HOF voters these days just take a cold look at the statistics and that's it. I'll never understand it.

Remember, Harold Baines is a HOF'er, Kenny Lofton is not.

JRam is gonna be borderline... I don't see him getting the numbers to being a sure bet HIF like 3000 hits, 500 HRs etc...

That being stated in the sense of WAR, he will definitely at least get votes...

Kenny Lofton didn't get in.

Will Jose clear Lofton's career? As much as my heart says, "hell yeah," my head says, "no way".

No way Jose.....

....too soon?

All-time Indians/Guardians great, no doubt.

Ramirez is on pace to pass Lofton’s WAR in roughly 3 years assuming he stays pretty near to his normal pace. He will also have better traditional stats than Lofton, while also playing in a less offensive era and being impacted by the COVID year. Lofton also got screwed by the voters his first year, and I think he was under appreciated because of Manny, Belle, Thome and others overshadowing him in the lineup. Jose certainly doesn’t have that issue.

It will likely depend on how his 35+ age seasons go. Jose is so unique that I’m worried he’s not going to age well, but I’m also a pessimistic Cleveland fan.

Idk I feel like if Scott Rolen can get in... Jose certainly can...
Scott Rolen deserved it, Jose doesn't yet but he's only a few pretty good seasons away. His chances are good.

When the Ivy League mathemagicians took over baseball, they essentially blinded the sport. Eye test abilities, like hustle, moxie, grit, sticktoitiveness, etc became non existent when grading a player. The good news is that Joses abilities in this area do reflect in his numbers, but as you noted the bar is so insanely high in baseball that Jose just might need 6-7 more productive years to break into that category. Can Jose do that? Not sure, but he has the baseball acumen to be a productive bigleaguer for that long.

Stays healthy for 7 more years he's in. 400 homers would clinch it

He’s on track. If his career ended today, no. But if he can put up a few more really good seasons and then age gracefully, I think he has a good shot.

Also, Lofton got SCREWED.

Agree with most in here. He's definitely not in yet, but he's definitely got a solid chance.

Just hope he can stay healthy and productive for the next 5+ years.

Thought for sure this thread was going to be about Austin Hedges
