Someone made mention of starting a thread for questions directed at Bimbo so here it is. That way we don't have to dig through a bazillion posts to look for his responses. If any mods or Bimbo himself doesn't think this is a good idea please feel free to squash it.

Hey Bimbo, can you tell us anything about David Fry's catching abilities? He has a lot of versatility, but that's only useful if he can actually play those positions acceptably.

Shit! Should I have put this in the minor league thread?

Great athlete behind the dish, well behind on the fundamental aspects, and there is a reason he hasn’t caught a single inning in Cleveland’s system to this point when it comes to managing/guiding pitchers through a game.

Definitely someone who could play C in a pinch, but he’s a corner IF guy only, trending closer and closer to a 1B only defensively. He just doesn’t play a position well outside of 1B.

What the hell happened to Franmil? His strikeout percentage is 39.3% against a career number of 30.3%. It's up 30%. It's been trending up since 2018: 28.1%, 28.5%, 28.6%, 32.0% and 39.3%. He was consistently about 28.5% from 2018-2020 but his K-rate has exploded the last two years.

His plate discipline is the same - he chases 30.2% outside the zone which is slightly better than his career average, but he's missing more pitches outside the zone instead of fouling them off. His ability to hit the fastball has tanked badly, from +7.2 in 2020 to +3.8 last year to -4.0 this year.

It seems like his bat speed has declined. His slugging percentage has declined from .522 last year to .278 this year - a decline of nearly 50%!

No decline in bat speed. Guy is 98th percentile in average exit velo, 95th percentile in hard hit%, 94th percentile in barrel %. Those aren't numbers of a guy with a decline in bat speed.

He is working on some things mid-season due to the lockout and is crossing his mechanics up at times in game. I've talked about that in the past with prospects and how easy it is to look great in a cage while working on something new but how hard it is to carry that over into an actual game. It will be painful to get there, but he will get back to his normal self.

He's also suffered a good bit from a raw statistical standpoint due to the new ball. A 127 point gap between his actual slugging and expected slugging is wild to see. Lot of bad luck/weird results there that will be corrected as long as he keeps his exit velo and barrel rate up mixed with warm weather.

Anthony Gose hasn't pitched in 10 days and he only pitched five innings in May. I get that we've had some rainouts and our starters are going longer as the season goes on. Also Gose seems to be behind Hentges in the left-handed pecking order. Is Tito down on him or is it just a lack of available innings?

He had two very bad performances in May where he gave up two and three runs, although we won both games. I'm wondering if there has been some loss of trust, or if he's just so new that he hasn't established any.

His last two outings he pitched a scoreless inning on 9 pitches each time.

Any internal relief that the guys playing 1B have matched/out produced Matt Olson so far, especially considering both the financial and prospect cost, or does that one still sting a bit?

Seems like we have a lot of talent at SS & 2B, long term, who would you think fills those positions?

Second, wtf the happened to pur pitching?

How is Oscar Gonzales defensively in right? He seems about average which doesnt seem terrible to me with his potential bat and power. Are my eyes correct, decent speed, ok jumps, just not a fluid athlete like a Straw, but few are.

What's going on with Nikhazy? He was a floor/pitchability over stuff pick with supposedly good control. Didn't expect him to struggle so much at that level after dominating the SEC. I guess he's working on something, but would like to know more specifics if possible, thanks.
