Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dude is insanely likable. Really appreciated his sideline juice tonight. Hope we can live in a perfect world where his injury was a hiccup and post surgery, he’ll simply be back to his late 2020 form.
Any videos of this? I was at the game which explains my great observations and expert takes I have been sharing, but didn’t get to see any of this

Or Nascar legend Dick Trickle

Never heard of this guy and did NOT believe the name! But, it is 100% true, along with some other sad news.

- Killed himself with a self gunshot wound at age 71 in 2013

- According to his brother, he was in severe (physical) pain for an extended period of time. Ultimately, no longer being able to take the pain was his demise.

- On a sad, but funny note — his name is Dick Trickle, died and is buried in Boger City, NC.

Man, guy could not buy a break. I would have definitely gone buy Richard and included in my last rights — to NOT be buried in Boger City, NC — home of the Kleenex Tissue production plant.

If you could plug and play 2021 Case Fuckin' Keenum and win then imagine Rus or Rogers or even Carr in this offense. I would be happy with Baker replicating his performance from last year but it feels like a longshot with the injuries and myriad of other issues causing his regression.

Maybe 2022 is the year of Baker? :sad4:

So this likely means he’s out a few more games.

Doctors for the Browns and for quarterback Baker Mayfield were in lockstep that he could not be allowed to play Thursday night with a significant left shoulder injury, sources said, and he could miss more games to come. Mayfield was pushing to play again, wearing a harness to try to protect his non-throwing shoulder, but the decision was taken out of his hands.
Sources said the swelling from this latest injury made it impossible for Mayfield to go through the rehab work necessary to strengthen the muscles in that area sufficiently to play Thursday night, and he may not be able to do so for Week 8, either. Unless the doctors feel that Mayfield has the necessary physical wherewithal to "adequately protect himself" from further injury, he will not return

The blocking on run plays and making tackles on turnovers is great and all, but Baker NEEDS to stop and alter the way he plays

and I just don’t know if he can. I think that’s breaking every natural instinct he has

Blocking is less.likely to get him hurt than tackling. I'm guessing they may be able to convince him that tackling must be off the table moving forward.

I hope so man, but I just don’t know if Baker comes with an off switch

when he’s healthy it’s one of his best attributes. But we need him to turn that off while he’s playing injured

I’m also not convinced he won’t play against Pittsburg from this update. I may just be in denial

Stefanski also needs to not devise plays that put his QB in a position to block. That reverse play that they keep trying to run has been snuffed out 75% of the time they try to run it and leaves the QB on an island to try to spring the crucial block to free up the end around. I'm starting to get Freddie vibes from when he ran that sweep pitch play a million times and it never worked.

You wouldn't trust amateur opinions/data on RCF over Paul DePodesta and Andrew Berry?

Let's humor everyone and talk this out.....

Let's just say $35 million for the sake of this discussion.

Above / at that number.....and likely to stay above / at that number:

Mahomes, Allen, Prescott, Watson, Wilson

Below that number......but likely to go above it:

Murray, Burrow, Herbert, Jackson.

So setting aside vets like Rodgers, etc. the Browns are pegging his value around the 10th most valuable young QB.

Would that be a fair statement?
