Alright.... May as well start a new thread and get some tensions out in here regardless of your man size!

We have been debating these two all season and some are annoyed with it being in the main threads, so if you wish to debate the spot next to Gimenez, especially Arias and Rocchio let's do it here...

I am going Arias... I feel like he personally has the higher upside on defense and has a natural power elements the other guys don't have...

IF I had my choice... Arias at SS... Schneman as the bench SS/Utility with Freeman as the emergency SS... Rocchio would be swapped for an SP (plus some depending)...

Arias should be sent to Columbus ASAP. Doesn't help this team one bit. Can't hit and has been terrible all year in the field with a 957 fielding percentage. Schneeman deserves his shot. He's earned it.

Rocchio should, and IMHO, will get the rest (most) of the year at SS.

Are any of these guys the future? It may be doubtful.

Ready to give Arias an everyday shot since Rocchio isn't cutting it. Angel Martinez should go to CF upon his return to AAA.

Even Gimenez is becoming somewhat of a disappointment at the plate. Yeah he's hitting really well with RISP but its clearly a fluke. For his career Gimenez hits 284 with RISP but so far this season he's hitting well above 400. If he can be a 750OPS guy I would never complain about him again with his glove. Heck even a 720OPS would be fine. He's quickly becoming an all glove no stick player.

All this talk about MIF log jams over the past 3 years and none of them are looking like complete players. Not asking for All-Stars just solid everyday players.

Rocchio is tied for the team lead in 2Bs, SBs.

Rocchio is 2nd on the team in BBs and 6th in Runs.

Not too shabby for a #9 hitter.

As some other poster on this forum mentioned, hitting is down across the league. Rocchio definitely deserves more time at SS.

I think Arias would've been the best bet--and we should've let him play every day to open the 2023 season.

Now? I think we've screwed the pooch. Arias looks broken. Rocchio is the best bet right now but he isn't showing signs of being anything special. If you kill Rocchio's confidence by going to Schneeman, that's the last bullet in the chamber, and I'm not sure you can do that with a team that wants to make an October run this year.

I'm fine with Rocchio being the guy every day for the rest of the year. I hope someone like Brito can be the answer moving forward.

I'm hoping for a trade. Give someone else our pile of broken prospects.

I wouldn't mind a trade. The only problem is, the trade right now would be happening when their values are at an all-time low. If we an find someone to buy on Arias's upside thinking they could turn him around, I'm all for getting a non-trivial return back. As it stands now it just seems incredibly hard to get another team to buy in on "hey buy in on this guy who we would like to trade away so we can play Brayan Rocchio". You can flip the names, and it's about the same thing.

This is the problem with Cleveland's management of talent. We don't clear out the logjam until it's too late. If you hold your chips until they lose their value, then you aren't actually retaining value, a point that everyone's favorite forum target likes to bring up but it is a fair one.

Perhaps the ship has sailed though and we just need to make the trade and eat the L.

The answer is Schneemann...

This should be a joke, and kind of is... Yet...

Look at his triple A starts for 2024, the only thing suppressing the heat is lack of pedigree...

IMO - Arias has not shown enough/exceptional lack of consistency and cannot take a walk. Rocchio gets the nod for now.

Here's a good question.

Do you expect their values to move up or down as time progresses?

I don't care if an asset is at an all-time low--I care if I expect that asset to appreciate or depreciate.
