BCS Nat'l Championship Game: Auburn v Oregon

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So was God not with Oregon ?

Auburn probably should have won by 10. Newton was very rusty, and I don't think Oregon was ll that rusty. Auburn's D line was just flat out dominant, it's hard to throw when you have the D line baring down on your every play right away.

Oregon's season average rush yards was 303 yards. Tonight, 81 yards.

there was like 2 exciting plays that whole game. kind of boring. sunday nights cavs were more entertaining imo

Also, Oregon's play calling was flat out dumb. That 2 point conversion chance was pretty ill-advised even though it worked. The going for it up the middle on 4th and 1 when Auburn was just dominating the line of scrimmage the whole game was dumb. The reverse kick return was dumb. Some gimmicks are okay. Constantly calling gimmicks is dumb.

Fairley is a monster, we have more pressing needs but imagine him with Rogers and Rubin.

:chuckles:

they should just enjoy the national championship while they can because it will be vacated within the next 5 years due to Mr. Superstar Cam Newton

Some in here want Holmgren to draft Newton. This guy isn't worth it. He didn't impress me. It was the first game I've watched him play, but he's not all that. He's might be an average to below average NFL QB, but nothing higher than that. He's a lot like Pryor. Neither one would do much in the NFL.

Disappointing game. Oregon lost the game as Auburn did not win on merit.

I am tending to agree with you on Newton. Yes, he does have a strong arm. But, he wasn't accurate at all. He under threw that easy TD pass on 4th and goal in the first half. He overthrew at two least different receivers that were wide open and he had a clean pocket. There is no way this guy should be picked in the top half of the 1st round. But, I'm sure someone with get enamored with him.

As for the game, itself, I enjoyed it. It was sloppy at times. But, it was entertaining. That's more than can be said for most of the bowl games this year. Bottom line, this game showed that Oregon's offense works great against sorry Pac 10 defenses. But, when they are faced with a physical and fast D, they get exposed.

I haven't seen a single person on this board tout Cam as the Browns draft pick. Whether the guy turns out to be a stud or not remains unseen, but we have to address other needs (WR1, DE/OLB) first and give Colt a fair chance with decent weapons. He's at least earned that.

That said, Nick Fairley cemented his place in the top 5-6 picks last night. Dude was absolutely dominant.
