Be the GM Basketball V1

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
On the pro rosters I think you have the first and last names mixed up. How in depth is this. I'm a little confused. My coach's pace is a 54 will it help if I get a post offensive player and work with my coaches stats like that?

One other thing: If a coach has a lower number on the inside/outside ability, that means he will give more of a bonus to posts. If it's a higher number, he is better at helping out with perimeter players.

It's all built into the formulas of the game. It should work kind of like a real life team in that if you sign a coach who is very talented defensively, he could take your team from a middle-of-the-pack defensive team, to one of the best. That same coach could also take a bad team and help them on defense. It's best to have a coach who is very good at everything, but I would say development is probably the most important stat. A high development rating will help improve your players in the off-season. Training has to do with your team's medical staff, avoiding injuries basically.

Cool. What about firing/hiring coaches?

If you don't like your coach, you can fire him right now. There is a list of Free Agent coaches that I will be posting either in a little bit or tomorrow.

Just a quick note to the GM's already in the league, especially those near the top of the draft...

Texas just defeated Iowa in the Sweet 16 by a score of 79-75. They were led by their power forward Mikel Pickens. Pickens is rated in the game as the #14 overall player eligible for the draft and is the #1 PF. If you need post scoring, this might be your guy. Pickens tallied 34 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting a blistering 16-19 from the field.

I don't know if it's good or bad the I knew this before I seen the post. Haha

Hey, guys.

With all of the time some of us Cavs' fans have been using lately discussing draft prospects and the NBA off-season, it got me thinking about how I could create a simulation game where players would have a chance to be the General Manager. Over the last couple weeks I have built a first-version of this game and I was hoping to find a few people who would be willing to play along and be a GM of a team in the league.

I'll be running the league mostly through a Google Spreadsheet and this thread. I'd like to get at least a few people taking over teams. It wouldn't take too long and I would likely be running about one game per day once the season starts. It would just be cool to get some people who were fairly engaged in it and checking it once a day.

If you are interested in helping me test this game out, I'm going to leave a list of the 12 professional league teams in this thread. Once you've decided what team you'd like to be the GM of, I will give you your roster information and let you know how the next steps of the process will go. This might be kind of clunky at first, but I think, overall, it could end up being a pretty fun GM simulation game.

Teams in the league:

New York Empire - Jeremy
Los Angeles Wave - Dano_24_26
Chicago Fusion
Houston Jets
Philadelphia Freedom
Pheonix Fury
Detroit Dragons
Indiannapolis Lightning
Jacksonville Tigers
Columbus Pioneers - Loki478
Memphis Bears - gijimbo
Baltimore Braves

Let me know if you are interested and if you would like to take over one of the franchises. I have also created a 40-team college league and 8 foreign teams. I'm playing through "March Madness" right now and working on some of the mock draft stuff. Once I get enough teams, we should be able to do the draft and start getting ready for the season.

I'd love to get any sort of feedback and help from you guys, and I will also likely participate in the league if you guys don't mind.

Thanks for your time.

Sounds cool! I'll take the Chicago one!

I sent a PM to our two newest GMs. We still have 6 teams available, check the original post if you want to see which teams are still available. If you aren't sure about joining yet, you can check out the google spreadsheet we are using here:

https://docs.google.com/a/heidelber...sXMAFppvv7cZuOxxq0hq6OsXX8/edit#gid=305059972

Also, once the professional season starts, I will be recording stats on this website: www.leaguelineup.com/jbabasketball

Please feel free to ask any questions and to give any sort of suggestions to improve the league. I will likely be finishing up the college post-season tournament tonight, so we will have a national champion. At that point, I will notify you all of this season's All-Americans and College's player of the year. Their stats will be available on the spreadsheet and I will then give each of you a chance to get an in-depth scouting report on 5 players (You can select them from the top 50 college prospects tab).

Here is a link for our official chat page: http://us20.chatzy.com/21733182386145

Come in here to ask me questions or to discuss trades/draft/etc. with the other GMs.

Try to log into this whenever you get a chance so we can get a good active league going.

Still looking to fill six more spots.

Give me the Detroit Dragons

I also have a skype chat setup if anyone wants to use that..... message me if you want added

Hey, all.

I have a bit of a weird sleep schedule. I'm gonna be working on tweaking the game for the next few hours in preparation for the upcoming draft. We still have five GM slots available, so tell your friends!

I'm going to be in the Chatzy link that I provided as much as possible, if you message and I'm not there, I will respond to you when I can. If you are able to, just leave it up in another tab and check it periodically when you are online and paying attention to the game.

Go over to the league's website to check out the final mock draft http://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=jbabasketball ..

GM's, it's very important you go over to the google spreadsheet and add a comment telling me who you want to scout. You have a general scouting report of all players in the draft, but you can get more advanced reports on up to 8 different players.

As always, let me know if you have any questions. I'd like to start the draft tomorrow, or as soon as people have their scouting selections in. It will probably take a day or two, but we will try to get it in quickly.

5 teams still available!
