Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I have a weakness for raspberry. I rate everything with raspberry artificially high. Really my only deviation from objectivity that I've noticed so far.

Was your beer by any chance "Red & Blue Popsicle"? The Answer is really good. They're at Snallygaster In DC every year, and they brought that beer last year.
Yessir!! Red and blue triple puffsicle!
I used to work a half mile from the Answer. By far my favorite brewery. Hardest part about leaving Richmond was leaving the breweries in that town. An, the owner of the Answer, is one of the best guys in beer. Self made man who does a ton for the community and is always giving back

Jking you’re in DC right? Aslin is one of my favorite breweries and they just opened a tap room in Alexandria
yeah, I legit almost went to Aslin this weekend. I love their IPAs. Maybe I’ll go next week. Are you in the DC area now? Either of you guys go to the DC Browns Backers at Blackfin?

Now we're starting to talk beer! I hit Aslin in June on my way back from OBX. The Answer was a guilty pleasure of mine before they started getting stronger in ABV. Lol.

Back to the reason I came here: Is anyone going to Shelton Fest this weekend in Buffalo? It is just today & tomorrow and I'll be there tomorrow for VIP & General Admission.

@The Wizard of Moz I've been to Richmond for beer twice now. Answer, Veil, Triple Crossing, and Hardywood are places I've been to. How about a funny wrinkle to your Answer story.... The guy who owns Answer "An" has a brother named "Kha". Well, for those of you who are into beer in NE Ohio, Kha is the owner of Small City Taphouse in Sandusky & he's opening a brewery named "CLAG", which is short for Cocky Little Asian Guy.

There are Mekong restaurants in Richmond & Sandusky. Same family.

God damn i need to stay in this thread more. First let me start with I like dark beers. So with that said here i go

Good friend of mine lives right next to the original Aslin and is constantly providing me with new releases, so as I travel around the country I pick stuff up for him. my birthday was the same weekend the brew house opened so I had a party down there, i havent had a chance to go back.

Port City is right in Alexandria as well, when i met my wife she lived about 3 miles from there (about 1 mile from new Aslin). She gives me all sorts of shit on a regular basis for making her move up to where I live north of Baltimore.

As far as other beers. If anyone is in Portland Maine area Barrelled Souls is an absolute fucking must. Apparently the Aslin owner and Barrelled souls owner know each other and their beer styles are pretty much the same. I was at Barrelled Souls last month and they told me they occasionally sell at Aslin events, so if you get a chance to pick them up, DO IT! If you are into IPAs and in that area go for Bissell brothers, their shit is absolutely on fucking point when it comes to IPAs. pretty difficult to find outside of portland though.

random shit i have laying around my basement i recommend. If you are flying through BWI outside of security at the southwest terminals there is DuClaw which as of last check still had Unicorn Farts on tap (told they will have more next year). Its a fruity sour. Any of the DuClaw Retributions are pretty good. This year their Day of retrobution is Nov 2nd. I will be there if anyone is going. DuClaw made a massive mistake in that they can only have occasional events at their brewery but this one is worth going to. make sure you show up early, the line is ridiculous.

I have A-Bomb from Prairie brewing in Oklahoma I like a couple of their other beers more (their sours are fucking amazing). IPAs pretty awesome as well.

The best god damn fucking beer i have ever had is called MILF/materfamilias by mothers brewing. Its a stout, that i ran across in Little Rock but is made in springfield, Mo. I couldnt find it in kansas city or st Louis. Seriously the shit is hard to find.

If you are even in Leavenworth, Washington (worth visiting, just google it), there is a dark beer there called Dark Persuasion described as this "Delicate dark chocolate with a whisper of coconut... You know you want it, go ahead and indulge. You can finally have German Chocolate Cake and drink it too. "

w00tStout 2019 just came out for those of you interested. I have multiple bottles still sitting around from every year going back to 2015. Inlaws told me its out so ill have to go find it. last year was okay but not normal standards.

If you are driving through wisconsin do yourself a favor and pick up some spotted cow. Its a damn unique beer that is pretty enjoyable.

there are my beer thoughts for the day

Graduated college in May and in turn, I'm trying to graduate from only drinking Natty Light and Budweiser constantly.

Been drinking a lot of Sierra Nevada and Rhinegiest Truth lately when I've been hitting the bars.

you guys probably have it in ohio, but assuming you like IPAs (and it appears you do), pick up Heavy seas loose cannon. If you like something more fruity pick up their tropicannon. They actually have a 12 pack mix of their different cannons if you can find it

One of my favorite Ohio beers is Burning River from Great Lakes. Just a really solid IPA.

Great Lakes is always solid. Rarely do they over-achieve, but they literally almost never have a true dud.

Unicorn Farts is the shit.

Seriously. I got it a local craft beer place and drank all 4 that night.

I recommend Great Lakes' Dortmunder as a nice stepping stone into adult beer.

Anyone familiar with the Phoenix Beer scene? Probably 40+ tap rooms in Phoenix are, great beer scene, not Portland great, but getting up there. Anyways always looking for a new beer so curious if anyone comes thi sway and found a NON-IPA they were impressed with.

(512) Brewery in Austin makes a delicious Pecan Porter. If you're ever passing through there, make sure you try one.

I don't know if you guys get Burial beers up in Ohio, but if so their pilsners are a fantastic stepping stone into craft beer while also staying delicious even if you're a snob. I go with them a lot when I'm out because they are relatively low ABV so I can drink a few without getting drunk too fast. They're also great on hot days, which is most of the fucking year in NC. It's 80 out right now and we consider this a reprieve from the 95+ heat of the past two weeks.

Shadowclock is the one I can remember off hand but they have a few.

Never had anything from them, but the only Phoenix brewery I’ve ever seen traded was from Wren House. Looking at Untappd ratings probably worth checking out if you haven’t already.
