Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't know if you guys get Burial beers up in Ohio, but if so their pilsners are a fantastic stepping stone into craft beer while also staying delicious even if you're a snob. I go with them a lot when I'm out because they are relatively low ABV so I can drink a few without getting drunk too fast. They're also great on hot days, which is most of the fucking year in NC. It's 80 out right now and we consider this a reprieve from the 95+ heat of the past two weeks.

Shadowclock is the one I can remember off hand but they have a few.
Burial was by far my favorite in Asheville. The rest of them were kind of underwhelming, but living in Richmond for 4 years kind of ruined me for visiting almost anywhere else.

Speaking of which, I moved to Bham Alabama and the beer scene here is sad. But the locals fucking worship it because 10 years ago there were laws that you couldn’t serve beers with ABVs over 5 or so percent

so they compare the breweries to what they used to have as opposed to what has been going on across the country (very unfortunately a common theme in AL). I feel like the snob of snobs, but really Masthead (which is by no means a national powerhouse) would be overwhelmingly the best brewery in the state. Hoof would essentially be a beer diety

oh well, luckily my friends in Richmond send me frequent care packages to get me through it. I will say though Trimtab does put out one annual stout that is outstanding: Language of Thunder Cumulus. It’s legitimately at an Answer stout level. Doesn’t make up for the fact that the other 50 weeks the beer scene sucks, but at least it’s 2 weeks of pastry stout bliss

Never had anything from them, but the only Phoenix brewery I’ve ever seen traded was from Wren House. Looking at Untappd ratings probably worth checking out if you haven’t already.

I have been to the Wren house, it was ok, they are very highly rated but i wasnt overly impressed compared to some around here. The tap room is in an old historic house, kind of cool in that sense, small place with no food.

Interesting to hear, I’m coming out to PHX for the Browns game in December (and was planning to visit) but maybe I’ll hold off. Again never had anything from them myself just basing it off of the only one I’ve seen traded.

We get Burial occasionally. Asheville is a pretty solid place for beer.

I'll be in Phoenix for the Browns game & plan to go to Wren House if I can. If anyone else is going to the game, let me know & we can maybe grab a beer if the schedules work-out.

I should have read the last page before posting... I'll be out in PHX for the game as well. It'll be a bachelor party, so I bet we'll be too busy for me to escape for too long. Still, it would be cool to meet more RCF beer drinkers (@selby56 hooked me up from Nashville a couple times before).

I meant to message you that I'm moving to Pittsburgh in a few weeks, but I'll be up in Cleveland for a day or two before I get settled in there. I'd be happy to grab a four pack or two of Bearded Iris or Southern Grist for you.

Um... Would you be my Voodoo plug? I need someone to get me Black Magick when it releases!!!

No need to bring anything, but let me know if you want to grab a beer!

Pittsburgh’s got a great beer scene, I hit up Dancing Gnome a few weeks back. Fantastic place.

@Soda, speaking of Voodoo, did you go to Good Vibes this year? I didn’t go last year, but went this year. It was insane, highly recommend if you want to try multiple world class beers from around the country.

I went year 1, then got sniped for trying to sell a beer in my small Cleveland group on Facebook (Vanilla K-13 sucked ass). So, I'm no longer allowed to go for whatever reason they make-up.

I'll see what I can do!

I'll be visiting family much more frequently after I start the new job, so I'll definitely let you know when I'm in town and free for a brew.

I have actually had a Dancing Gnome beer once before. I've got a friend that lives in PA and saved me a can of Dakota Line. I was pretty impressed. I go to Bearded Iris here in Nashville quite often, I feel like Dancing Gnome could be my go-to place in Pittsburgh. That or Fat Head's. I LOVE Fat Head's and go everytime I visit family in Cleveland.

I have been to Birmingham a few times, as its a relatively short drive from where I am in TN. I enjoy Good People. Nothing mind-blowing about their brews, but they have a solid and diverse catalog. It is a fun hang too.

Yeah, Fat Heads is awesome. I was just at the new production facility this past weekend. Awesome place.

I was down in Nashville for work this past March for the first time, I checked out Bearded Iris, Southern Grist and Yazoo for their sours. I thought all 3 places were great. If you go to Bearded Iris a lot, you’ll love Dancing Gnome.
