Ben Simmons? Is he a fit basketball wise?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's worked out well for Philly, huh?
The root cause of Simmons’s issues in Philly is his inability to perform in key skill areas & pressure situations. If CLE were to trade for him, those issues are known & accepted by Cavs (which is why I hope they don’t do so.)

there is no evidence at all in Simmons career that he is capable of lifting the third worst team in the league into the playoffs
In his draft year 2016, he was injured and the 76ers won 28 games. The next year was the first year he played, and they won 52 games.

But it's still Rich driving the trade train, and may even being putting Maxey on it with Simmons. Ben has said he wants to be in a big market. The concern isn't about his play, it's about his "player empowerment" getting in the way. It could work out 1000% well. It could also fail miserably. Based on what we know to be true, I'm not sure it's a great decision based on chemistry/morale/culture.

The irony of this place's love for Nance Jr yet bemoaning trading for Simmons when Simmons is 3x the player Nance is

It has very little to do with them as players, and much more to do with personality, chemistry, culture, etc. If you switched their skillsets, I guarantee folks would be storming Cleveland Clinic Courts looking for Kobys head.

Windhorst is reporting this trade possibility: Love, Sexton, Windler, first rounders in 2022, 2023, and 2025. They better all be TOP TEN protected.

Interesting. Source by chance?

How does that pass the Stepien Rule? Do we have an extra FRP in 22 or 23 that I don't know about?

Ugh that’s just terrible so all 3 of our decent shooters for someone who can’t even shoot free throws? I don’t understand how this type of trade makes us any better

Stripping ourselves of first rounders for Ben Simmons…ugh

Sexton/windler/Love I can see

This thing where a rebuild is supposed to take 3-4 years is a fantasy. Hardwoods did it but they got a rookie who has a precocious understanding of the game and ability to be a floor general first and then every move worked except reddish.

Cavs already had setbacks in Porter Jr and Windler while getting little from the scraps of the championship team.

KPJ and Windler were 30th and 26th picks, respectively.

Hardly “setbacks” to have picks at that level fail to produce.
