I liked how the Big Ten handled expansion. ND and Texas were the big fish, but it became obvious neither were going anywhere. So instead of going nuts and inviting every school in existence (I'm looking at you, Pac 8/10/12/16/42), they ended up getting a good fit in Nebraska, got to 12 for a CCG, and upped the competitive "name" of the conference. And are open for future expansion, if/when it happens.

Then, when they come to divisions, they nearly completely screw up, splitting up a bunch of teams and making Wisconsin play in a mostly Eastern division.

Then, they come up with names. Any combo of Great Lakes/Plains/Heartland/Corn/Rust would do. Since they stupidly split up OSU, I thought maybe they'd go with the "Woody" and "Bo" divisions.

But what do they do? "Leaders" and "Legends"....

WTF!?!?!?!?

Michigan's fight song contains the line, "leaders and best".....and they are in the freaking Legends division.

If this is what they came up with, I'd hate to see what names were worse than this.

When I read that today I started rolling on the floor and then had stomach pains. Leave it to the Big Ten idiots in charge to come up with the most dumbest names in history. Those names just make you want to go out and kick some ass, don't they?

Leaders
Legends

please.

How about Black and Purple. Bruisers and Rammers. Red and White. Bo and Woody. Jack and Jill.

Heck; any damn thing but Leaders and Legends.

Lame.

:chuckles:

Only the idiots who run the Big Ten are who did not have a clue that division names are somewhat important to fans:

Big Ten reconsidering divisions name change

It looks like the Big Ten is going back to the drawing board when it comes to the new football division names Legends and Leaders.

There has been so much backlash with the names that Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany, who acknowledged the negative reaction in an interview with WGN Radio in Chicago on Thursday, may make a change, writes ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

"We've had enough experience with names and expansion and development of divisions that we know that you rarely get a 90 percent approval rating," Delany told WGN AM-720. "But to get a 90 percent non-approval rating was really surprising. It showed that we didn’t connect with our fans in a way that we wanted to. It’s humbling, to say the least, because we’re trying to build fan bases, not push them away.

"I've been around this business a long time, and I would say it’s one of the more surprising things. There’s a sensibility there that we did not connect with, did not read well."
