man i had to leave when they got the leadoff triple. so discouraging. but mac does have a point they are better than us, they won the title last year and were still blossoming. we should have won at least one of the though.

Didn't get a chance to see the game, but I did see Akron lose 5-3. Sowers was so-so, but I think it was largely nerves. He got off to a rocky start, and then started to throw more strikes. He has a GREAT pickoff move, but the baserunners bothered him. The leadoff hitter for Reading had 59 steals two years ago (injured last year) and the second hitter had 58. They were running a lot and being VERY aggressive. It bothered Sowers, and the other pitchers a lot.
Steve Green, who replaced Sowers, got ejected after he (correctly) pointed out that the first base ump blew a call which put the guy who had 58 steals on first with one out. Victor Kleine came in to finish the game.
Ryan Mulhern looks REALLY good. He went 0-4, but had three very good at-bats in fouling pitches off and battling. He had two fouls balls that probably went 800 feet combined.
