Bobby BradGOAT

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
While Bobby Bradley's career fWAR in the big leagues is sub zero, the chances of him being with a different organization next season are not. I understand the infatuation with the power he displayed in June, but he then completely fell off a cliff when pitchers adjusted as I've written about in this thread. It's certainly possible that he's the Opening Day 1B for the Guardians in 2022, but it's also certainly a possibility that they look to upgrade at 1B as well. He's not an indispensable part of this franchise.
I dont think anybody sees Bradley as indispensable to the org, but I dont see replacing him as the top priority.

And our budget requires prioritizing.

Besides, first base may be the easiest position in baseball to replace in mid season. There always seems to be one floating around.

Again, where are we prioritizing? Two corner outfield spots? Great, then where does that leave Naylor assuming he returns for a full Spring Training as expected? 1B? That would then bump Bradley off the roster. And, no, I don't think this team views Naylor as someone who needs to start the season in Columbus.

I have no info but I would think the kind of injury he sustained might end his outfield play. I can see Naylor and Bradley fighting it out for 1b

Depending on how we attack our needs this offseason, I can totally see this. I can also see trading Bradley as an auxiliary piece and Naylor slides into 1st. Or vice versa.

Naylor was bad as an OF and then got hurt partially because of that, and when he comes back won't be any more ready to be an OF. I think he'll probably do a long rehab in AAA and then see what he looks like there and if not option him to AAA eventually. I think his play needs to at least make the case for him getting the call up, unless Bradley is struggling so epically. Especially with what Bimbo says it looks like we need Bradley due to the uncertainty behind Naylor.

Kev, it has nothing to do with having an infatuation with his power. He's a young guy who showed enough promise in his first extended stint in the majors (279 PA). That's why he's not going anywhere, nor is he in danger of being replaced.

He's going to get at least 200 more PA.

The only danger Bradley has of being replaced is if the A's have a fire sale with people like Matt Olson because they can't afford him anymore. But that would require a new minority owner for the Guards.

The Indians could shell out enough in 22 for Olson, its 23 it could be an issue since a lot more players are hitting Arbitration and nothing is coming off of the books...

I would be happily surprised if Naylor doesn't start the season still on the IL at this point.

Been in AZ for a while rehabbing, but he is a looooooong ways away.

Wow, I am in AZ rehabbing too. I am on step 4, what step is Naylor on?

A FO has to have realistic expectations going into an off season. Wishing and hoping doesn't work. It has to operate within the bounds of its own internal evaluations, which are little more than educated guesses. I doubt that our FO is going into this off season with the expectation that Naylor will have a significant impact before July, if not the entire season.

In other words, I dont think the FO will make...or turn down...a trade, based upon the idea that Naylor will play a part next year.

His injury is borderline career ending.

I'd like to see a list of all the OFers that are R5 eligible. This might be how Chernoff attempts to address the situation, at least in part. A trade for one or two could even happen prior to the draft. Spit balling here because it's difficult to even guess how they'll address the need.
