Boyer, Frost among 13 released
By Zac Jackson, Staff Writer
August 28, 2005

The Browns released 13 players Sunday including veteran linebacker Brant Boyer and punter Derrick Frost.

Boyer, a 12-year vet who played with the Browns from 2001-2003 before missing all of last season due to a foot injury, was one of four linebackers released. The others were Justin Kurpeikis, Sherrod Coates and undrafted rookie Kevin Harrison.

The release of Frost means veteran Kyle Richardson has won the team's punting job.

Other players released include offensive lineman Javiar Collins, quarterback Lang Campbell, defensive lineman Corey Jackson, safety James King, wide receiver Lance Moore, offensive lineman Clint Stickdorn, tight end Keith Willis and kicker Tyler Jones.

The roster now stands at 74; nine players have roster exemptions. The Browns must trim the roster to the regular season limit of 53 by Saturday Sept. 3.

It's a shame Boyer got the ax. I think we could of used his veteran leadership and toughness on special teams, but the years were catching up to him. Also hate to see Lance Moore go. Not that he ever had a chance, but the more Rockets in the league the better! And then there is Clint Stickdorn. I just like this guy's name. :)

He didn't have much left in the tank!

And he did not even play last year!

You're missing my point. I'm not saying he shouldn't of gotten cut, I'm saying I was rooting for him and would of been pleased if he'd of shown the coaches enough to make the team. He was a good guy and a tough player. It's a shame that the Boyer era is over in clevaland, but that doesn't mean i disagree with the decision to release him. You follow me?

unck outperformed him and that number 57 dude from michigan state.Maybe he lost a step after that bad injury last year.

Im going with True, he has lost a step and at this stage in his career, it's time to build some new special teamers.
