Joe Woods on Ronnie Harrison:

“And with Ronnie, I was watching film yesterday. I said, ‘Who’s that guy in the post?’ They said, ‘That’s Ronnie.’ ‘Ronnie?’ Just in terms of what he’s done so far, working on his movement skills, bending more in his back pedal, he looks like a different guy. And he has a natural feel when he’s in the box, so I think he’s set up to have a really good year for us.”

Glad to hear that one of the bright spots on last year's defense is looking even better.

I really think people underestimate just how good Harrison looked last year. I think people were so jaded with our secondary and people like Sendejo, Redwine and MJ Stewart shitting the bed, that bright spots like Ronnie Harrison got lost in the muck a bit.

I think he's a phenomenal pickup by Berry, and I have a sneaky suspicion that the gap between him and a more touted player like John Johnson isn't as wide as a lot of people think.

This could very easily be a take that makes me look like a complete idiot in six months--but I'm planting a flag on Ronnie Harrison's name. I think he's a positive contributor on this team as a starting-caliber safety. I have less concern about his skills than I do about his potential squeezing out of playing time due to JJ3 and Delpit also being on the roster at safety, with JJ3 doing similar things at a better level while getting paid a lot more, and Delpit bringing a completely different skillset to the table.

What makes you say we were jaded with our secondary?

They were every bit as good as our Linebackers last year. :chuckle:

He was one of the best safeties in the NFL last year in coverage. He has issues, but I think they were exaggerated because he was paired with Sendejo and Joseph. I’m really excited about the secondary this year.

Probably a lot easier to hide a solid player's weaknesses when he's not playing next to guys who have no strengths.

So fucking true, unless you are the coaches that called the coverage, its hard to know when Harrison didnt blow the coverage sometimes and he had to cover very Sendejo or Joseph

If Redwine was on the field, he was blowing a coverage.

If Joseph was on the field, there's a decent chance he blew a coverage.

If Sendejo was on the field, his old, slow ass recognized the blown coverage then slowly walked in the direction of the open receiver--stopping only to deliver a helmet-to-helmet brainmelting tackle to his own teammates.

Redwine has caused more coverages blown for the Browns than Redwine has caused things to be blown at a gay bar.

Its because he is the one that does the blowing
