Teller - durability concerns
Ward - durability concerns
Njoku - durability concerns
Chubb - prime extension candidate
Baker - prime extension candidate

I am a complete moron, but this is my view point and guess on what the front office will be looking at/thinking.

In my observation, all of these players are great and add value to the team. One thing Berry has proven, is creating flexibility with a long term strategy is THE most important roster builder.

Xavian Howard just requested a trade from Miami

I hate players who whine about there contract a year or two into a lucrative extension. Maybe torward the end, but its not like Xavian isnt a top paid corner.

Here's the full text of his request:

Guranteeing more money seems reasonable, throwing in some all star and all pro bonuses seems reasonable too, raising the base doesnt.

I agree 100% but just wanting more guaranteed money isn’t that big of a deal and Miami should have honored that. Either way greedy and a second who says no?

Miami. They're going to be demanding a first right now.

And actually, with our financial situation, and already having Ward and Newsome, with Hill behind them we're probably not interested either.

At his current deal, I’d take him in a second and not think twice, cap wise.

Yeah, but he's not happy with his current deal. That's sort of the whole thing.

So you have to pay first in trade assets, then second in money? In a negotiation where the player has ALL the leverage because he knows what you just gave up to get him here? That seems like the sort of asset mismanagement that Berry would avoid.

Xavien Howard is being a bit of a cunt though. He's the second highest paid player on his team, and sixth highest paid cornerback in the NFL... being a dick because the guy on the other side of the defense makes one million more per year.

I tend to feel this way in all other guarunteed sports. In football, I always just say “get that money man”.

6th highest paid but 1st team All-Pro. Miami could willingly adjust his guaranteed money and move on…..seems dumb that they have let it get to this point.

His contract limits his value some, the trade request limits it some and now an elite corner entering his prime might suddenly be out there for no reason.

I don’t know if the Browns have interest but it would be disappointing if they weren’t at least exploring it relative to their immediate cap situation.

I’d imagine Miami figures it out here but if the compensation price is right, start kicking some tires.

Well according to him, he may be fine with more guaranteed money, which we can handle.

My "real life morality" sees what you mean in that first line... but the business side of the NFL says, "call his bluff." Even if the Dolphins tear up his contract, they could franchise him or dare him to retire. He is on shakier ground with his ultimatum than Aaron Rodgers, and Rodgers ate crow on all his bluffs.

Are you taking that gamble?

I'm fairly certain Berry isn't.

You trade serious premium assets for him, and you think his agent is just going to say "yeah, no worries. We don't need a new deal"?

Maybe it was discussed in here…..can’t seem to find a clear answer. Is the 2022 out a team option? Or a player option?
