It’s not Landry because we signed him to a contract he’ll never live up to.

I don’t think it’s Randall because I don’t think he’ll be around after this year. As great as the original trade was, if we only have him for 2 years, that’s not a ton of value. If I knew we kept him for a while, he’d be in strong consideration. And I can’t say Hollywood for the same reason.

It’s not Chubb because no way a RB has that much value.

I can’t say Hunt because for all we know he never plays a down for us. And I can’t say any of our rookies for similar reasons.

Can’t say Mitchell when he’s not as good as Ward and is making more money.

It’s either OBJ or Ward.

I went with Randall because even if he is only here for 2 seasons, the fact we got him for Deshone fucking Kizer and a pick swap almost breaks the scale when it comes to “value”.

My 2nd choice would be Hunt, but that’s TBD depending on how well he plays when he returns.

Hunt. A pro bowler in his prime for the vet min is incredible value

Yeah, but he's out until week ten and then probably gone after this year. I just don't see the value there considering we already have a RB better than him on the roster. I mean, I don't mind signing Hunt basically for free, but I also don't expect him to contribute much of anything during him time here unless he signs back here, which I doubt unless literally no other team comes knocking and he's left signing here for cheap.

Realistically, Hunt might get a bit of passing down work this year but that's probably about it. Chubb is flat out a better runner than Hunt, so I don't see much using him between the tackles.

@Douglar . @MGMT . @bob2the2nd

Yeah, for the guys who haven't played for the Browns yet (especially rookies), we are projecting here.

People talk about value during the draft, this isn't any different.

Value is a subjective thing, which is why I created this thread. It's something I thought about the other day and thought would be an interesting discussion. Randall was definitely my #1, but I think there's a good argument to be made for a lot of these guys.

Good point, though I'm not sure which I'd replace. Maybe Mitchell? Or Wilson? Honestly though I think Mitchell is a better player at a more important position making only $4 million APY. And I'm high on Wilson. I certainly understand an argument for Schobert, though. I probably had some bias not including him because I don't think he'll be on this team next year.

@Randolphkeys . @chrisrich91 great points about Landry.

No I know, and I wasn’t trying to be rude. I actually spoke to why I didn’t feel why Mack isn’t good value yet. I don’t think he’s going to just vastly improve against the run or tackling in space. So I guess I’m just addressing why I don’t feel he’ll surpass his slot value.

If he does, hey, I’m happy to eat a crow and it’s poo. I don’t see how you can ignore that we managed to get an excellent backup center at the top of round 2.

Also to note about the Landry deal is that the 4th round pick we traded to Miami was the same 4th round pick we received from Carolina in exchange for Punter Andy Lee

I understand, just wanted to explain my thinking.

Mitchell makes about half what Ward is making. That's why I picked him. He's one of the least expensive non-rookie contract starters we have, and he is a very good #2 corner, able to hold off second round pick Greedy Williams. We also didn't give up any draft capital for him.

Pretty outrageous that their part time maintenance man’s recent $100 for 100 hammers purchase at Ace Hardware isn’t listed.

So that's what Barnidge is up to nowadays

It’s not Chubb because no way a RB has that much value.

Chubb averaged 4.3 yards after contact. That's value that Chubb brought to the table by himself. Hard to say that's the offensive line.

Chubb also broke 3 TD rumbles over 40 yards in 1/2 a season. That's considerable value. If Chubb can rip off 3 or more 40 yard TD runs again this season, it is as valuable as a deep pass and will change the way teams defend the Browns.

Don't get me wrong, Chubb is definitely a valuable player on his contract. If the question was "Is Nick Chubb valuable" the answer would be "Yes".

But we're talking "most valuable". RB play is just not very valuable and RB production is among the easiest the replace. So if you're putting up Chubb's value vs a more important/harder to replace position, he's not going to be the most valuable due to his position.
