The Browns Forum is moderated by @chrisrich91 and @Jordan. Please contact Chrisrich (Jordan is on sabbatical) with any questions or concerns before using the report button.

First some tips:

Listen to the moderator. If they are asking you to stop, stop.

Don't attack the moderator.

Don't air grievances in the open. Send the moderator a PM.

All RCF Forums run with some basic rules, but the most important is Don't Be a Dick.

1) If you have a problem with another poster, try to say it first to them in a non-dickish way. None of that "friendly advice" that is really just another thinly-veiled insult. Passive-aggressive posts, condescension, and baiting as a way of "solving" problems clearly doesn't work even if it makes you feel better momentarily. If any of you see any of your buddies getting a bit out of line in terms of harassing or being demeaning to other posters, try to help us all out and either PM him/her or address it publicly. You guys should be able to police yourselves.

2) There are some fantastic posters in here with incredible knowledge - better than some of the professionals paid to write about this stuff. There also are some more casual fans who don't have that level of knowledge. This forum should be welcoming to any poster who is willing to treat others decently, regardless of their level of knowledge. If someone makes a post you think reveals ignorance, etc.., isn't it actually better to point that out in a friendly "hey, don't know if you're aware, but..." tone? As opposed to "How many times do you have to be told...", etc.. Make yourself look good and improve the forum by adding something positive, not be putting others down. On the other side, if you think someone is trolling and just trying to cause problem, try saying that in a civil tone first. Then let me know if necessary.

3) Some of you are probably aware of this, but there are guys who post on RCF who may have some serious health issues and can't get out a lot. Other may be going through some emotional issues, have some family problems, etc.... Talking with some of you guys here has sometimes helped me through some very difficult personal times -- even if it is just yacking about the Cavs or whatever.

The point is -- this place may be more important than you realize to some fellow posters. The guy you're mocking or who is the target of your dig may be having a rough go of it for reasons the rest of us don't know. I won't try to discourage vigorous debate between guys who like throwing haymakers -- that's also part of being a fan --, but anything that looks like cruelty or targeting will truly piss off staff. If you see someone else -- particularly someone with whom you normally agree -- getting out of line, try to help keep them on the right track. A good word from a friend is sometimes much more effective than a scolding from a moderator.

Reminder to the community:

Do not hesitate to PM me with perceived personnel issues within the Browns/NFL forums.

Best practice is to make me aware of any issues going on first and foremost; limit use of the Report feature to major infractions.

Thanks!

Re-posting this sentiment that was shared by @Sebastian elsewhere on the site because it will be applied by me in the Browns forum as well. Just want to give all a fair head's up.

Personal attacks are not permitted.

If people value access to the site, they may want to refrain from anything resembling a personal attack for the next few weeks. Warnings and Bans will be assessed without warning.

As always, feel free to PM me if you feel a user is in violation of rules like trolling. Myself and the mod team will assess and act. Personal attacks against posters you deem trolls are also not permitted.

Thanks

Can you consider paring down the number of sticky threads in this sub? Some seem to be irrelevant and out of date. Others could be merged. Thank you for your consideration.

Edit: Thank you!

Hey all - a reminder that the Report function should only be used in the case of a major incident

If you have a non-major issue, please reach out to me via PM and we’ll work through it there. Not via the Report function.

Thanks

It's a tough day for us all.

With that said, personal attacks are still not tolerated on tough days.

Just a friendly reminder.

Is saying i never want to see PJ Walker starting again for the Browns a personal attack against PJ? :chuckle:
