Gonna go out on a limb and guess that Josh McDaniels' preferred GM wouldn't have backed out of the running...

Sounds like he just didn't really want to leave Minnesota as opposed to simply being against coming here..
I heard a rumor that, to convince him it was a bad idea to leave, he was greeted at Vikings HQ on his return by a flaming dumpster with 'Browns' spray painted on it.

As for the Paton news, it blows. I thought he was the best candidate and, unfortunately, he just didn't want to leave Minnesota. I'd have to imagine that there has been some indications to him that Rick Spielman is going to retire/step back sometime in the near future and he'd get the bump to the big chair.

And that's not to say I don't like Andrew Berry. I do, I think he's pretty good and I believe he has the right thought process to be a successful GM. Just not sure that he's got a good enough eye for talent or if he's ready to put together a team yet.

Guess we'll see.

Breer suggests Paton was never really a sure thing anyway.

I mean it is what it is, he's had multiple opportunities to leave Minnesota in the past and never has.

Well who would want to?

There is nothing more glorious than a January in Minnesota.

This process is, quite clearly, a joke. You don't need to sit on a treasure trove of information for days/weeks deliberating. If this is peoples' idea of strategy, it sucks & the NFL employment candidates aren't going to sit by idly while you plug your facts into your decision making framework.

Hot takes comin out piping hot and fresh right now.

Paton was obviously the top choice but you can’t force someone to leave and come here. It’s disappointing but if the job does go to berry I’m perfectly ok with that too.

Take that "this is good" spin to meatspin. Trying to re-create the wheel has been a fail. This organization isn't fooling me; they aren't revolutionizing dick.

If you could point me to where the "this is good" spin is coming from, I'll happily do it.

Doesn't make your assertions that they are somehow trying to reinvent the wheel any more or less based in fact. You are just impatient and want to dump on them because they fired your boy. Admit it.
