Thus far, I'm not sure they were wrong. He's been fine, but not exactly the guy his rookie year hyped him up to becoming. Philly won the Super Bowl without him.

Jack, I think we're both smarter than this. Wentz was in the running for MVP that year & had a huge hand in getting them there. C'mon now.

This whole GM process was a sham. It was always Berry. Should have just hired him.

Huh?

Seems more like we are interviewing multiple candidates and making a decision based on the results of that process... which is refreshing, and similar to the HC search. Twist here is one of the candidates doesn't want the job. So now there's one less candidate.

They were very wrong on Wentz until injuries started derailing his career. Just like they were very wrong on Watson until an injury derailed his rookie season.

Dumb luck.

They're still wrong for not taking Watson IMO or trading up instead of sitting at 12 for Patrick Mahomes (allegedly according to Hue) before trading back for 25th pick and future 1st. Nothing will change that as long as Watson or Wentz are better than Baker .

I mean, my point was that Philly had a pretty great fucking team that year. Wentz was good, but Philly was obviously good enough to win without him, and Wentz has been overall good but not incredible thus far in his career.

The only issue I had with the Browns' passing on Wentz was the team coming out publicly afterward and saying they passed on him because they didn't think he was good. That's just a dumbass thing to say in a press conference.

Oh, they are definitely still wrong on Watson, for sure. They just got bailed out a bit in the trade due to Watson getting hurt.

Paul DePodesta said it at the Sloan conference during his “look-how-smart-I-am” talk.

I do agree that the Eagles were good enough to win with Foles or Wentz. That doesn’t change that Wentz was fantastic leading-up to his injury & helped get them to where they got.

Also, I don't know why I'm surprised, but I can't believe people are already convincing themselves again that passing on elite talent is a smart thing to do. The amount of elite players that were passed over for Corey fuckin Coleman is both sickening and disturbing.

You trade down when the elite talent isn't there, you don't trade down when it is there.

Considering the guys drafted 17th and 18th in 2016 both made the Pro Bowl, it stands to reason that the process wasn’t necessarily the problem, just the execution.

Trading back is usually a good decision from a value perspective, but if the person in charge botches the picks they do make, it doesn’t matter.
