We paid him to sit on his ass apparently. The most moves he made was on his golf cart during training camp.

I still think Mangini was ousted too quickly. Him and Davis were probably the best hires we've made at HC since 99.

Davis deserved more time.

Mangini was one of the least likeable human beings on earth. Doing a Bill Belichick impression without the success.

I’d bet the players disliked him. And given that they weren’t winning, is a combo for disaster.

He still coached one of the worst rosters we ever had to 5-11. I know that he wasn't as well liked because he was a disciplinarian but we were also one of the least penalized teams in the NFL during his short tenure. Would look a helluva lot better than the current clown show we got working.

We have kicked the tires on a big name. Jim Harbaugh, Chip Kelly, Bill Cowher, Nick Saban. Haslam has always gone after the big names. the problem is we were never in a desirable position for any of us to truly consider taking the job except for Chip Kelly. Now hindsight might say that we dodged a bullet with Chip Kelly be he was the hottest name at the time and we met with him for hours. We literally tried to trade for Harbaugh. Haslam has reached out to Nick Saban every chance he could when we had an opening.

Put it this way. If Harbaugh or Bill Cowher made it known that they were interested and wanted the job it would be theirs. You really think he's gonna turn them down? I don't. I know it would piss people off if we went that route but that's where we are.

We'd be stupid if we didn't want Cowher because of fandom. I know he's been away from the game for a decade + but the man was a great coach.

debatable. His in game management was pretty bad. Good motivator though.

Our talent was so god damn bad I'm genuinely not sure who was or was not a good coach.....especially in the first 10-12 years.

The problem is not talent now, which would lead me to believe we would and should attract a very big name. If that is the route we desire.

Any coach with a pulse could go 9-7 with the talent on this team. A good coach, IMO, could get 10-11 wins out of it.

With our skill talent, it is laughable when you look at our offensive analytical ratings.

And Jimmy Haslam knows this. So when presented with this information it's hard to believe that he wants try and bring in a big name. He's never been in a better position to do so.

It’s interesting to think about but I also think there is a limit to how good this team can be just based on how bad the offensive line is.

It can’t be overstated how important it is just to have competent level play there, and we have guys who shouldn’t even be on NFL rosters starting.

I will always wonder what Chud would have done if he got more than one year. He was able to surround himself with quality assistants knowing that it was going to be a learning curve as a first time HC.

Well, we've got a 1st, 2nd, and two 3rd round picks. I'd love to see us use the 1st and a 3rd for two offensive linemen. Fill 'em out with free agents as well. The O-line will be our top priority.

Pretty much this. I think Kitchens is terrible, obviously, but this line is legit terrible.

It doesn't matter how great your skill positions are if your line is as bad as ours is. If we upgrade the line and coaching staff, then yes, this is definitely a 10-12 win team.

Maybe even SB contention if we have a great draft and off-season. That's not hyperbole. Look what the 49ers did in one year.

But we're not going to do that much if this isn't upgraded. Baker is getting destroyed and lucky he's not ending the season on the IR.

That's why I don't even get any of the criticism he received yesterday. He got beat the fuck up with the hits he's taken. Eventually its going to affect ANY QB. I don't care who it is.

Also the o-line is so bad that an extra linemen or putting two TEs in hasn't been effective either. If you can't protect your QB it becomes so hard to playcall. It just sets you back on down and distance.

Then you add a defense that can't get off the field in key moments and you have what we currently have. We basically have a team that can't sustain or shift momentum thru out a game.

I admittedly do not know much about his strengths and weaknesses, but Carolina has bounced between being a solid and great team during most of his tenure there.

Not sure if he's an option for us or if he should be. Defensive background...would need a great OC.

There’s so many other options I’d look at before Rivera. But he’s still better than Freddie.
