So what kind of rampant, completely baseless speculation can we indulge in regarding the radio silence out of Berea?

I figured that the Browns decision-makers likely had a meeting last night to discuss the candidates, and so likely would have made an offer this morning. But no leaks to that effect from anywhere.

So either:

1) they didn't actually meet last night, but will instead meet today to make their decision and subsequent offer to the candidate, or

2) They did meet yesterday, made a decision and the framework of an offer, but Paton (or perhaps Berry) is undecided.

IMO, an offered has been made to Paton and he is mulling it over. Does he want to share power with DePodesta? It sounds like he is going to have a lot more decision making control this time around.

The fact he got a second interview and it occurred after Berry's only interview tells me he is their top candidate.

It would be odd if Jimmy said that DePo had final say on drafting, instead of a newly-hired GM etc.. Otherwise, I'm not sure why DePo's presence would be a problem if he's just going to have input/make suggestions. And if the concern is that DePo will have Jimmy's ear...would it really be better if Jimmy were making ownership decisions based on his own knowledge, rather than being able to lean on DePo for input? Depo basically makes Jimmy a less-ignorant owner.

That should be considered a good thing.

The "Could" in the title is pretty ambiguous already.
 
The "could" was still in the title from MKC's original tweet that literally said he could be hired this week, so there was a basis for it.

I just never got around to changing the title since then. My bad.
 
And now since you changed the title I assumed there was more news about Berry today, but there isn’t. :chuckle:

It definitely seems as of now though that Paton is the current favorite, but Berry is the next in line if we don’t come to an agreement with Paton.
