It’s both. Putting them together creates that 1+1=3 type of synergy that the sports world - hell, the business world - would give its left nut for.

The fact that it’s happening to our Browns, I still haven’t completely accepted. We’ve had more than our share of 0+0=(-1) type situations, so this is very new territory.

This is accurate in terms of how it went down in 2020.

But Berry was still employed by the Browns in January 2019 and was (along with DePodesta) advocating for the Browns to hire Stefanski as head coach then. Dorsey, who had final say, hired Kitchens. Berry then left for the Eagles the next month.

Fast forward a year.

Dorsey was let go and DePodesta quickly hired Stefanski. Then collectively the larger group (DePodesta, Stefanski, JW Johnson with Haslam having final say) chose Berry to be the GM.
