If Berry were to keep someone undeserving on the roster because he drafted him, that would be a problem.

Agreed. It isn't a surprise the GM & coaching staff have decided to keep players they think highly of and drafted. Not trying to rain on any parades, just making an observation.

I feel like you're making the exact argument that the two posts you're responding to were trying not to make.

Neither I nor Selby said that Berry made the wrong decision on any of these moves.

I have the exact same 3, but maybe Harris and for sure Togiai.

Harris is our only backup center, if we cut him, we need to make a trade. Togiai has looked bad, and so has Hudson.

But if the coaches think they can work with then, then all 3 can stay, but all 3 are pretty borderline. I love Berry, but everyone is human.

I’m not saying any particular player is going to turn out bad, but it isn’t crazy to think if you’re deciding between keeping player A who you just drafted in the 5th round or player B who was a UDFA camp invite that you’d probably keep player A. You saw more potential in them, you drafted them instead of player B for a reason. You’re going to see that through.

Like I said before, I’m not in anyway trying to discount Berry. It just seems like a foregone conclusion that a GM will want to keep the guys he has drafted in the last two years.

Harris looks great on the move. When he pulls or there is a moving pocket - play action - he levels guys.

When he is required to anchor the pocket, a bigger stronger defensive tackle can bull rush him.

So he is what he is... a solid backup center who isn't great at guard.
