Browns hire Andrew Berry

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is it a “rebuild” if nothing had ever been built in the first place :chuckle:?
I'm old enough to remember the '64 team (I was 8 at the time), so yeah it's been a really loooooong, really slow, rebuild.

Anyone else wish Andrew Berry, Paul DePodesta and Stefanski could double dip as those same positions for the Cavaliers?

I'm not sure I feel that way about Stefanski. I think part of what makes him so great is his ability to surround himself with the right people and to lean on them, and that doesn't seem to be a factor in the NBA. He also needs specific pieces for his system to be effective, and that's the last thing I want in an NBA head coach.

Berry appears to run an organization very well, so I'd love to have him on board, and DePo would probably have the front office on the cutting edge of data collection and usage, so I wouldn't be against him having that role.

I've certainly dreamed of Dan giving Depo the keys to figure out the best way to proceed. Depo has already proven that he can translate his talents across sports. The dude is incredibly sharp, and I think he's already done more for the Browns at this point than he could possibly add at this point.

Meanwhile, Dan can't fucking feel comfortable enough with anyone to commit to anyone long term. At the very least, could Depo serve as a senior advisor? Dan is a smart guy and despite what we've seen from him in the past, I feel he is still waiting for someone that he trusts enough to hand over the controls to. And to be honest, I don't know if Dan has employed anyone that was ever deserving of that trust.

Depo won against Dorsey. Dan Gilbert would be the boss level.

Not gonna lie, Berry is doing a damn good job at *showing* everyone (the fans, the players, the NFL) exactly what the Browns are about now. Whether you agree with what that means, or not, you have to respect it. He's shelling out VERY good/fair contracts to players that fit what he's building, not overpaying, and getting rid of players that don't, no matter how well they're "liked."

This is fantastic to build something that lasts. It's great for a team culture. We may not get the flashy guys, but we'll get the ones that perform. I can see DPJ being another guy like this.

Time for Berry to get busy and work some magic. If he has the balls and intelligence everyone seems to think he has, he'll figure something out to upgrade the QB. This is not a time to stand pat. Yes, I'm done with Baker.

Honestly had he managed to fix the kicking issue the Browns probably make the playoffs.

Pretty bad by him to let that spot fuck them so hard.

Maybe, but based on Mayfield's performance yesterday that means he would just shit the bed when it matters more, making it that much more painful and more difficult to move away from him.

As much as I've stuck up for Mayfield, yesterday was the final nail in the coffin for any hopes I had for him to turn his shit around and live up to potential. The worm has turned, the milk is spilt and spoiled. At least for this fan.

This is a lazy deflection for bigger issues.

The Browns have not lost a single game this year because of a missed kick at the end of a game. And the only game a missed kick mattered, mattered because had we made the first against the Raiders, we wouldn’t have went for it to take the lead.

Replace the kicker, 100%. They aren’t a playoff team because of below average QB play.
