Do people on the Browns beat know how stupid they look and actively troll?
Outside of cle the team is considered the worst run franchise in sports . Whether fair or not the majority of the country view the Haslems as incompetent and unstable so until the Browns have any Sustained success the media is going to pile on locally and nationally. The Browns as an organization need to prove they have changed through results on the field . Otherwise the majority of the media takes are going to continue .
If the teams starts having success on the field most of the negative media coverage goes away for the most part.
Also, it is 2020 and there is plenty of alternative media on podcasts and online covering the Browns so it is not like you are stuck with the Grossis and MkC of the world unless you chose to be .

Is there some poll, or some objective evidence supporting this? Because my guess is that the majority of the country - even the majority of football fans - don't even know who "the Haslems" are. Some talking heads in the national media circle-jerk? Maybe. But we probably shouldn't take what they say as gospel anyway.

Tony Kahn is a good dude.....I love seeing him get a platform with the Jags. I just think, especially in football, the NFL needs more guys like him in prominent roles. A large focus of what I did professionally was around product development for Soccer / Futbol analytics.....and Tony has been well known as a visible figure in that world, with Fulham. He's incredibly bright but one of the most normal "rich kids" you will ever meet. And really, calling him a rich kid probably isn't fair.....given the success he alone has carved out...but for better or worse, that is the perception.

He has done a great job integrating analytics teams and leveraging their value in to two major professional sports, at the highest level....and if he likes what the Browns are doing (heading in that direction), I think everyone should be very excited about that.

Good article about Stefanski's offense. He runs a lot of play-action and pre-snap movement to confuse the defense and to give the quarterback "free" opportunities to read the defense's coverage. Also, expect more passes on first down to get short yardage opportunities on second and third down. Then, when the defense sells out for the pass and the box has six-or-less men in the box, I expect Chubb to get lots of opportunities.

I really don't understand why teams aren't running motion so much more than they currently are. It's free improvement for your offense.

It helps your skill position players get open. It helps your QB read the defense. It hampers the defense's ability to read your play and be ready for it.

When you have a freak like OBJ (or the best exampe--Tyreek Hill in KC), that makes it all the more valuable.

I think the Flying J fraud scandal brought a lot of negative attention to ole Jimmy, in both sports media and just general current event media. That coupled with the fact he's played musical chairs with GMs and coaches since owning the team hasn't helped.

His first four years of whiffing in the first round as owner was the cherry on top.

Worst NFL owner though? I think Snyder has earned that title by a large margin. At least Haslam isn't cheap when it comes to player safety. The league should take the team away from Snyder.

I think that for most of the country, that story was a blip. If you polled people and asked who Jimmy Haslam was, you probably wouldn't break 20%. You probably wouldn't break 50% even if you limited the question to self-identified sports fans. There are 90+ owners in the three major sports, and well over a 100 if you include hockey. I probably couldn't name more than 15.

Maybe most RCF'ers could name more, but we're not exactly the average casual sports fans.
