Saying you are from Scottsdale is a humble brag which is why its corrected, remember Scottsdale is the home of the $30,0000 millionaires. saying you are from Tempe doesnt make sense.I get what you mean, but East 4th and West 6th are completely different scenes as well.
I understand if you're talking to a local, you tell them what specific area you're from. But I've heard Phoenix residents correct international people and say "No, I'm not from Phoenix, we're from Scottsdale"
It's just strange.
When i lived in Scottsdale, i would say to locals Scottsdale or McCormick Ranch which was my specific area of Scottsdale....now i am in Phoenix....or i say Desert Ridge area which defines where i am at......but someone not from here? I am in Phoenix area either time.
