BROWNS OFF-SEASON 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
FA's I would let walk: Robinson, Stanton, Randall, Murray, McRay, Hodge, Hilliard, Brown
FA's I would resign: Schobert, Higgins, Burris, Seals-Jones
Players under contract I would release: Hubbard, Kirksey, Burnett, Carrie, Harris, A. Taylor, Kush, Lamm

I would tender RFA Hunt at the 2nd round level and take a deal if someone was willing to offer it. Keep him if they are not willing to offer it.

Needs heading into draft and free agency...

Starting LT
Starting RG
Starting RT
Starting FS
Starting SS

Depth at WR, TE, OT, OG, DE, DT, LB, CB, S (everywhere basically)

52.16 in salary cap space.

Vernon is due 15.5 with no dead cap hit. No way he comes back at 15.5. 2yr 16 million would probably be best he gets on open market. So that saves us 7.5 or the full 15.5

Kirksey is due 9.995 with a cap hit of 2.4. 2yr at 12 million would be good for both sides. So that saves us 7.595 or 3.95

Carrie is due 8.15 with a cap hit of 1.8. Not coming back so that saves us 6.35 million.

Hubbard is due 7.268 with cap hit of 2.4. Not coming back so that saves us 4.868 million.

Burrnet is due 4.7 with cap hit of 1.325. Not coming back so that saves us 3.375

More than likely none of these players are coming back. So cap available will be 89.848

our 2 deep next year for defense

DE. Garrett Cox?
DT Richardson. Ankou?
DT Ogonjobi. Ekuale?
DE xxxxxxx. Thomas
LB Wilson, Taylor
LB Schobert?, xxxxx
LB Takitaki, xxxxx
FS xxxxx, Redwine
SS xxxxx, xxxxx
CB Ward, Mitchell
CB Greedy, xxxxxx
N. xxxxxx

that is some big holes to fill.
starting back up
DE DE?
LB? DT?
FS LB
SS LB
N SS
CB

11 players in ur top 22 is a lot to ask for in one off season.
Seeing this makes me think we need sign Schobert to a contract, Kirksey and Vernon to reduced salaries, and maybe put Randall as "non-exclusive" franchise player at $11.15

I'd be interested in restructuring/extending TJ Carrie if the money makes sense. I think he's pretty underrated for the role he plays and CB is a position where you seemingly can use as much depth as possible.

He’s one of the better slot corners in the league, too. He’s the free agent I most want to keep.

From Lloyd's latest article:

It’s interesting to note, however, that the previous regime tried initiating contract talks with Damarious Randall during the season, one source said. But Randall didn’t seem interested and the two sides didn’t get very far. Randall is a free agent now. The Browns could retain him with the franchise tag, but that seems unlikely at this point — particularly now that John Dorsey is no longer around.

I find it interesting that the FO was attempting to negotiate with Randall but not Schoebert, if you believe those reports. I guess Randall was one of Dorsey's "guys" and Joe wasn't...

Also, you can read that the front office just valued the secondary, while not valuing the LB position, especially after just drafting Wilson and Takitaki this year.

I know I'm probably in the minority, but with the Browns being the odds-on favorite to land Tom Brady if he leaves NE (no idea why), I would be very intrigued to have him on this team. I really have no idea how it would work between him and Baker, but I feel like you couldn't say no to having Tom freaking Brady on the Browns

(Browns currently at +550 to get Brady)

Those odds are simply designed to lure you into giving them your money.

They have no bearing on reality.

Tom Brady is not going to play for the Cleveland Browns. He's not leaving New England.

I am assuming you mean -550. If they are +550, they would no way be odds-on favorites.

Edit: Nevermind, didn't factor in NE as probably the CLEAR favorites. So any other team will be a positive bet. My bad.

And for bringing on Tom. I would not want to waste any $$$ of our cap on him. Only positive would be to have Baker sit a year and learn McDaniels playbook an entire season/offseason + learning behind Brady. But I mean I would want Brady here basically for nothing. Which won't happen.

Why would we even want him at this point? Dude is washed and we're not benching Baker for him.

We all know he would come here and get Andrew Bogut'd and have all been for nothing.
