BROWNS OFF-SEASON 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He was a big name. I would've gone with the pinch runners from that era like Wayne Kirby and Ruben Amaro from that era.

Candy Maldonado was probably less known than Espinoza as far as bench players from then. Obviously everyone knew Tony Pena, so no dice there.

I'll also always hate Albie Lopez. That dude felt like the worst reliever in baseball history.
In little league, I patterned myself after Chico Salmon.

So, an article exists on Evan Brown.

He had great pass protection numbers with SMU but his lack of impact on the run game caused him to go undrafted.

A couple, fairly realistic, hypotheticals for the group:

-If you can get Trent Williams for a 4th rounder and extend him at $16-17M per, what do you do at #10?

-If you can get Jason Peters for 1-2yrs at $10-12M per, do you do it, and does that change who/what you do at #10?

We've all said/heard/read this LT class should be historically good. How important is it to get one *this* year if other options are available? Curious what others think.

The only thing that would make me 2nd guess taking one of these LTs at 10, is if Simmons is available. Then it would be close.

IF Williams were 2 or 3 years younger I would lean towards him, but he will be 32 at the start of the season. At best he has 3-4 more good years left.

Trade down and get an additional first next year. If Trent is hurt or playing subpar draft someone.

You take a LT in this draft no matter what. Depending on how long a Trent deal is, you either:

A) still take a LT at #10 - This option is if Trent deal is short.

B) trade down and take a "project" LT still in round 1 or early round 2 - this LT will be set to start in 1-2 years. See: Jackson or Jones.

C) take BPA that is not a LT at #10 - Simmons, Brown, Lamb/Jeudy/Ruggs, one of the LSU LB's., etc.

Maybe I am just being greedy but it's not time to just keep stockpiling picks for next year, then next year. Use the picks and build. But playing devils advocate, if you get a deal that is just wayyyy too good to pass up, take it.

Ed Taubensee is the Kevin Bacon of the baseball universe.

Manto could give him a run for his money as the definitive journeyman. He once hit 4 home runs in 4 consecutive at bats for Baltimore, but being the journeyman/utility guy that he was, it took him 3 games to get those 4 consecutive at-bats The major league stops in his career were:

Cleveland
Philly
Baltimore
Boston
Seattle
Boston (again)
Cleveland (again)
Detroit
Cleveland (3rd time)
New York Yankees
Colorado.

But the team he played the longest for at a stretch -- 4 seasons -- was the Buffalo Bisons.

In the majors, he variously played first base, second base, shortstop, third base, catcher, outfield, and DH.
